He has come a long way, and yet has more of a journey ahead. For the summer months, he will be at the Shirley Ryan Rehab in Chicago, which has a specialty department for brain trauma. • Yizkor email. Friends, this past week an email was sent out to the Kehilla which inadvertently may have caused some consternation among members of our community. The intended purpose of the email was to remind those who may have pledged to donate Tzedaka on behalf of a loved one during Yizkor on Shavuot that one way to redeem that pledge is to donate to the Shul's Tzedaka fund. The purpose of the Tzedaka fund is to help needy residents of Rehovot. The fund currently distributes food vouchers to about 25-35 needy people on a monthly basis. In addition, the fund supports Rehovot families in financial difficulty, with assistance for rent, electricity, medications, summer camp for kids, school supplies for children etc. The board apologizes for any confusion the email may have caused. Thank you for your support and generosity.
• מייל בנושא יזכור. חברים, השבוע נשלחה הודעת דוא"ל שייתכן כי גרמה לאי נוחות לחלק מחברי הקהילה. אנו מתנצלים על כך. מטרת ההודעה הייתה אך ורק להוות תזכורת למי שהתחייב בחג השבועות לתת צדקה לעילוי נשמת קרוב משפחה שנפטר כי ניתן למלא את ההתחייבות הנ"ל באמצעות תרומה לקרן הצדקה של בית הכנסת. מטרת קרן הצדקה של בית הכנסת הינה לסייע לנזקקים תושבי רחובות. כעת, הקרן מחלקת, בין היתר, שוברי מזון לכ25-35 משפחות נזקקות מדי חודש. בנוסף, הקרן נותנת תמיכה למשפחות ברחובות החוות מצוקה כלכלית עם סיוע בשכר דירה, תשלומי חשמל, רכישת תרופות, ועוד. אנו מתנצלים על אי-ההבנה ו/או אי הנוחות, ככל שנגרמו. תודה לכם על תמיכתכם ונדיבותכם.
• Message from the choir! We want to sing again, so please join us! The Berman Shul’s Anim Zmirot men's choir has been enriching our services for more than two decades. After the setbacks of COVID and the war, the choir wants to get started again, singing a few short pieces on the occasional Shabbat and brightening up High Holy Day services at the Beit HaMidrash Minyan. We need more singers to make this happen. You don’t need to be an experienced chorister. You don’t even need to read music - just the openness to experience a truly spiritual moment, singing during the most important Tefillot in our calendar. If approached, please give it some serious consideration. Or better yet - speak directly to the conductor - Stephen Simpson!
• הודעה מהמקהלה - אנו רוצים לשיר שוב, לכן נא להצטרף אלינו! מקהלת גברים "אנעים זמירות" של בית הכנסת ברמן, מעשירה את תפילותינו כבר יותר משני עשורים. לאחר המכשולים של קורונה והמלחמה, המקהלה רוצה להתחדש, לשיר כמה קטעים קצרים מדי פעם בשבתות ולהדר את תפילות ימים הנוראים במניין בית המדרש. כדי לעשות זאת, המקהלה זקוקה לעוד זמרים. אין צורך בניסיון קודם - אפילו לא צריך לקרוא תווים - רק הרצון לחוות חוויה רוחנית אמיתית, לשיר במהלך התפילות החשובות ביותר בלוח. אם מישהו מהמקהלה יפנה אליך - אנא תן לרעיון התחשבות. או עדיף - פנה ישירות למנצח - סטיבן סימפסון!
