• We regret to announce the passing of Judith Pruchno z"l, the mother of our member Daniel Schwartz. The funeral took place on Thursday, 14 December, in Rehovot. Daniel is sitting shiva at his home, Rehov Menucha v’Nachala 14/17, sixth floor, from Thursday, 14 December through Wednesday morning, 20 December. Visiting hours are: 8:30 – 13:00 and 16:30 – 21:30. SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• Shelter information. In the event of a red alert, please proceed as instructed to the closer of either the bomb shelter behind the shul, or the hallway of the Orot College opposite the women's balcony, which is a protected space. If you cannot safely reach either of these within 90 seconds, please consider either the rear of the men's section or the library. Use all available doors to avoid bottlenecks and proceed all the way into whatever space you enter.
• Thank you to the organizers and entertainers at the Shul Chanuka Event!! Thank you to Deena Lederman, the Social Committee, and Berman Band, for a great combination of music, sufganiyot, and shopping for a good cause. And thank you to everyone who participated, and packed the dining hall despite the weather.
• Volunteer help wanted. Bookkeeping and accounting help needed for the Shul, under the treasurer's direction. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping, payroll, and fluent Hebrew strongly preferred. If you can help, please contact Emanuel at president@bermanshul.org.
• There will be a Special General Membership Meeting on 30 December at 20:00. The agenda is posted on the Member Documents page https://www.bermanshul.org/my-documents (login required).

• Jointly sponsored Yahrtzeit kiddush - Tevet. The Tevet JSK will be held on 23 December, Parashat Vayigash. • Donations and Tzedaka. The Shul website has a new prominently displayed donation button on its homepage [www.bermanshul.org]. We encourage all of you to use it! Often! You now may also easily select your intended purpose: Tzedaka, Kiddushim, Aliyot, etc. Very important: Please make separate donations for each intended purpose. Tzedaka note: Bermans has raised over NIS 1,200,000 to support displaced families and provide basic and essential supplies to our soldiers. Please consider donating or better yet, getting friends and family to donate and to actively fundraise for the Berman Iron Swords Support Campaign! One personalized FB campaign can go a long way. • HYPAL (Horim, Yeladim, Pizza and Learning). We meet every Motzei Shabbat at 18:15 in the back of shul; parents and children of all ages are welcome to join. There will be a half-hour of independent learning followed by a dvar torah and pizza. The activity complies with Homefront Command regulations, in case of an alarm, each parent is responsible for their children. Pizza this week is sponsored by Devorah and Yisrael Sofer. • הייפל (לימוד הורים וילדים ופיצה) נפגש במוצ"ש ב18:15 בחלק האחורי של בית הכנסת, הורים וילדים בכל הגילים מוזמנים להצטרף. הלימוד כולל חצי שעה לימוד עצמאי, אחריו דבר תורה ופיצה. הלימוד יתקיים בהתאם להוראות פיקוד העורף. שימו לב במקרה של אזעקה כל הורה אחראי על ילדיו. פיצה השבוע בחסות דבורה וישראל סופר. לעדכונים הצטרפו לקבוצת הוואטסאפ.

• Beit Midrash Le'tanach will have its next lecture (in Hebrew) on Monday, 18 December at 19:00 at Beit Yad Lebanim Rechov Habanim 10. For more information: Rami Shanani.

• Lecture (via Zoom) for the tenth of Tevet. We have the pleasure of having Naama Galil returning to Berman Shul (virtually) to give another riveting lecture about a little known episode happening during the Shoah period regarding a children's home in Germany run by Beatta Berger. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, 21 December at 20:00. Zoom details in Hebrew version below.

• Group to learn Mishnayot in memory of those murdered by Hamas. I would like the group to finish all Mishnayot by Simchat Torah next year. We will then hold a Siyyum in memory of the victims. I am managing it via a simple internet site: https://www.lzechernishmas.com/signup.php?id=11788. If you enter the site you will find a list of all of the Masechtot in Shisha Sidrei Mishna. You can then volunteer to learn any Masechet by clicking the Masechet you want. If you fill in the form properly, I will receive a notice and I can follow up on progress. • Daily Siyyum of Shas for Pidyon Shvuim. A group has been formed dedicated to completing the entire Shas every day and saying the special Tefillah for Pidyon Shvuim for the Hostages of 7 Oct. (see details and links below). Questions can be directed to Eli Schmell. Pillar of Fire - Siyyum Shas every day for the abductees! Come be part! We dedicate the study to rescuing the abductees and do a Siyyum every day on the pages we learned. Each participant registered to one page in the Shas which he repeats every day!
