• We regret to announce the passing of David Gaber, z”l, the father of our member Dikla Goldenbaum. The funeral was held Saturday night, 21 October, in Rishon L’tzion. Dikla is sitting shiva in her father’s home through Friday, 27 October, at noon. The address is 18 Kikar Modi’in Street, Rishon L’tzion. Davening times are: Shacharit: 8:30; Mincha: 17:30 followed by Ma’ariv. Dikla can be reached at 054-4346764. SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• Safety and situational awareness regarding Shul on Shabbat. Those attending shul on Shabbat are asked to familiarize themselves with routes to the nearest shelter in case of an alarm. Locations of safe structures may be seen here or on the Noticeboard. People with mobility issues are temporarily discouraged from coming because of the difficulty in reaching a shelter.
• הנחיות בטיחות לבאי בית הכנסת השבת: נא ודאו שאתם מכירים את הדרך למקומות המוגנים למקרה של אזעקה. קישור למקומות המוגנים כאן או בלוח מודעות. מומלץ לאנשים בעלי הגבלות תנועה שלא לבוא לבית הכנסת השבת בשל הקושי להגיע למקלט.
• Shelter information:
  

  • There are two bona fide shelters, one around the outside back of the shul (downstairs) and the other in the seminar building (also downstairs), which is walkable in about 80 seconds.

  • There is also the back of the men’s section/library, which was originally built to be a miklat and is more reinforced than the newer building. Those who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs or who have young children and babies should shelter there.

  • Those in the balcony can just go into the stairwell, which is an inner room.

  • Those outside or closer to the south side of the shul can go toward the seminar miklat, which is very big. Just go up the stairs to the glass doors of the seminar, enter, and go downstairs to the miklat.

  • Most people should go to the miklat behind the shul building. Please remember that anyone bringing children must take full responsibility for their safety! Locations of safe structures may be seen on the Noticeboard under Map of campus bomb shelters and also appears at the end of the newsletter.

• Berman Iron Sword Relief Fund. The Berman’s Tzedaka Committee is receiving multiple requests for assistance for soldiers, families and communities affected by the war. Company commanders and army logistic officers are sending us lists of vital equipment needed for their units. Displaced communities need multiple levels of support. Food is required for soldiers, hospital canteens and others. Bermans has established its own Iron Sword Relief appeal. Please give generously and encourage family and friends outside Israel to join our campaign. Help us to help our country! • Names of soldiers: A significant number of our members and/or children are currently in uniform on the front lines. We encourage those of you whose children are serving, especially on the front lines, to submit their names so we can pray for their safety by name. Lehavdil, if anyone in your family has been hurt by these terror attacks or the war, you can add their name as well and we will submit them to the Gabbayim for mi-sheberachim. • Personal Data Security. Please be careful if you receive phone calls asking for personal information, names of soldiers, credit card information, teudat zehut numbers etc from people claiming to represent government offices, Amutot or other organizations. Do not give out information until you are sure the recipient is legitimate.
• **Save the date** [Situation permitting] The annual Berman mIx-iT-uP Shabbat will take place this year on 11/11/23, 27 Heshvan, Parashat Chayei Sara. Details and a sign-up form to follow!
