• We regret to announce the passing of Chana Demgi z”l, the sister of our member Yitzhak Fieldust. The funeral was held on Wednesday 20 September, in Jerusalem. Yitzhak will be sitting Shiva at his sister’s home from Wednesday afternoon, 20 September, through Sunday morning, 24 September. The address is Chazon Ish 15, Ramat Shlomo, Jerusalem. • The Shabbat Shuva Drasha will be given by Rav Yehezkel Babkoff in English on Shabbat afternoon after Mincha (approx. 18:15) in the Shul.

Yom Kippur יום כיפור:

• Yom Kippur setup. As always, we need volunteers to help set up our additional venues for Yom Kippur. Setup for the Beit Midrash minyan will take place on Saturday night 23 September at 20:30. Setup for Hashkama and Library minyanim will be on Sunday 24 September immediately after Mincha (approx 14:00). Please also help restore the rooms after the fast. We are a single community, and everyone's help is appreciated wherever you plan to daven. [Some of the setup times may change due to constraints of the Yeshiva, in which case a separate notice will go out].
• ארגון חדרי התפילה עבור מניין בית המדרש, מניין ההשכמה ומניין הספריה. דרושים מתנדבים לעזור לארגן את החדרים במוצ''ש ה23 בספטמבר לבית המדרש, ובערב חג יום ראשון ה24 בספטמבר מיד אחרי תפילת מנחה (בשעה 14:00 בערך) למניין השכמה, והמניין בספריה, וכן לפרק את המחיצות ולסדר מחדש את החדרים מיד אחרי הצום במוצאי חג. אנא זכרו כי אנחנו קהילה אחת ובואו לעזור ללא תלות במניין שבו אתם מתכוונים להתפלל (זה לא ייקח הרבה זמן). • A Yom Kippur 5784 Guide by Rabbi Aryeh Frimer. Yom Kippur is a period rich in custom and ritual, personal and communal. In addition to general information regarding ritual observance, the present guide will hopefully assist those individuals who because of illness or weakness have chosen to pray bi-yehidut (in the absence of a minyan) through the related issues. The guide may be seen here or on the Noticeboard.
• Minyan seating. If you ordered seats for Yom Kippur and won't need them, please write to the gabbaim at gabbai@bermanshul.org. Seating plans will be posted at the entrance of each minyan. Please note that some seat assignments have changed between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur; please check the seating plan. People who don't have seat reservations are welcome to sit in any empty seat, but should promptly move when the person assigned to the seat arrives.
• Please bring your own Machzorim to all minyanim. The shul has only a limited number.
• אנא הביאו עמכם מחזורים לכל המניינים, שכן בבית הכנסת מלאי מוגבל בלבד.
• Strollers. Those attending the Shul building (main), Library, and Hashkama minyanim are asked to leave strollers outside the buildings due to crowding, and for fire safety. Strollers may be brought into the back of the Beit Midrash. All the venues are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the Beit Midrash.
• עגלות. מתפללים שמגיעים למניין בבניין בית הכנסת, בספריה ומניין השכמה מתבקשים להשאיר את העגלות מחוץ למבנה. ניתן להכניס עגלות למניין בית המדרש, אך יש להשאירן בחלקו האחורי של החדר. כל המתחמים נגישים לכיסאות גלגלים, למעט בית המדרש.
• Looking ahead to Sukkot (I). Help wanted to build and decorate the Shul Sukkah. Volunteers needed on Wednesday 27 September at 9:30am to help build the Sukkah, and on Friday 29 September (young volunteers welcomed) at 10:00am to decorate it.
• Looking ahead to Sukkot (II)...Volunteers are needed to host Bermans kids for a Sukkah hop on the first day Chag of Sukkot (in the afternoon). We are hoping for enough volunteers, so 3 different age groups can visit 3 different Sukkahs each. Hosts are asked to provide candy/snacks/drinks for the kids, and [optional but appreciated] a short Dvar Torah. • Looking ahead to Sukkot (III). The hospitality committee would like to help those looking to be hosted in a Sukkah. If you do not have a Sukkah, and would like to be hosted in a Sukkah, OR, if you have a Sukkah and would like to host someone who does not have a Sukkah, please fill out this form. Shiurim and lectures שיעורים והרצאות:

• **Save the Date** Want to vote in the upcoming municipal elections but don't know what the candidates stand for? Let them tell you in person! Mayoral candidate forum for the English speaking community, with participation of all the candidates, 16 October at 20:00, at the Shul. Candidates will be asked questions in English and Hebrew, and respond in Hebrew. Participation is free. There will be a simultaneous interpreter translating the responses into English through headsets for those wishing to avail themselves of it (for NIS 20/headset to cover part of our costs). See fliers in English and Hebrew and on the Noticeboard.
• Volunteers needed to give Divrei Torah for Parshiot in Sefer Bereshit. Please contact Mechael Kanovsky.
