regret to announce the untimely passing of Leon Yehuda Mock,
z”l, the brother of our member Hester Fass. The
funeral took place on Friday, September 1, in Holland. Hester is
sitting Shiva in Rehovot through Thursday morning, September

regret to announce the passing of Pamela Granot z"l, sister of
our member Steve Friedlander. The funeral took place
on Wednesday September 6th in Be'er Yaakov. Steve will be
sitting Shiva at his home, Chish 38/13 Rehovot, 4th floor, until
Tuesday morning. Visiting hours: Daily: 9:00-14:00; 16:00-18:00;
20:00-22:00, and Friday: 9:00-13:00. Steve can be reached at haim.friedlander@gmail.com

Annual Pre-Slichot Concert. Come an hour early to
Slichot on Sat night Sept 9th and get in the mood with a
Pre-Slichot Concert at 21:30 featuring the Berman Band. The
concert will feature an instrumental program with moving songs
to transition the mood from Motzei Shabbat into Slichot.

renewal and High Holiday reservations. All current
shul members should have received a personalized email inviting
them to renew membership for 5784 and book seats for the
high-holiday minyanim. If you are a member and did not receive
the letter, please send an email to website@bermanshul.org.
Non-members or those who did not receive a
letter may also now reserve seats by following instructions on
the letter posted here or on the Noticeboard.

- Looking
ahead to Sukkot...Volunteers are needed to host Bermans kids for
a Sukkah hop on the first day Chag of Sukkot (in the afternoon).
We are hoping for enough volunteers, so 3 different age groups
can visit 3 different sukkahs each. Hosts are asked to provide
candy/snacks/drinks for the kids, and [optional but appreciated]
a short Dvar Torah. To volunteer, or for more information,

Hashana:

- Rosh
Hashana set up. As always, we need volunteers to help
set up our additional venues for Rosh Hashana. Set-up (hanging
Mechitza, arranging benches, and moving Aaron Kodsh [Hashkama])
for Beit Midrash, Library, and Hashkama minyans will take place
on Thursday night Sept. 14 (to [hopefully]
finish in time for maariv/Slichot). Setup for Hashkama
minyan at 20:45, and setup for Beit Midrash
and Library minyanim at 20:30. Please also help
restore the rooms immediately after chag. We are a single
community, and everyone's help is appreciated wherever you plan
to daven.

HaShabbat This week's lecture will be given by our
own Rabbi Prof. Aryeh Frimer at 17:10 and is
the last meeting until next year. The topic is "Slichot and the
Thirteen Attributes of Mercy."

- Emunah
Rehovot - Tuesday September 12th - Special Chazanut Morning
with Joey Simon. Joey Simon regularly davens from
the omud on Shabbat and Chagim and will be singing various
tunes which you may know, interspersed by information which
might surprise you. Door donation for paid up Members NIS 15,
Non-Members NIS 20. The meeting will commence at 10 a.m. for
refreshments, announcements and a mini booksale in the Beit
Midrash of Ohel Shay Shul, 9 Yehuda Tzvi Meltzer Street,
Rehovot. Joey's programme will commence promptly at
10:30, so please don’t be late. Bring your friends,
men and women.

- Siyur
Slichot at Kfar Ibn Gvirol in Rehovot. This is the
seventh consecutive year that a group of community leaders
have organized a tour to a particular neighborhood to raise
questions about social issues, in the spirit of teshuva and
slichot. The tour will focus on stations in the Ibn Gvirol
neighborhood, such as education in the community, gmilut
chasadim, history (including the aliyah from Yemen), building
connections between new and veteran residents, and more.
Berman members are invited to join this city-wide tour. We
plan to meet on Tuesday, 19.9.23 (the 5th of Tishrei) at 19:30
at Agudat Ahim Synagogue, 18 Hadekal St. Parking is available
in the lot behind the synagogue (enter "Shita Malbina St 23
Rehovot" on Waze). The tour is being organized by a group of
community groups, including Psifas and the Neighborhood
Division of the Municipality. It is free of charge but
requires prior registration at this link. For more details: Sherman

חברתי 2023 בשכונת אבן גבירול. זאת השנה השביעית
ברציפות שקבוצת פעילים ברחובות מארגנת סיור סליחות חברתי בשכונה
מסוימת. הסיורים מעלים שאלות על סוגיות חברתיות ברוח עשרת ימי
התשובה. השנה הסיור יתמקד בשכונת אבן גבירול. חברי ברמן מוזמנים
להכיר נבקר בחתנות בשכונה כמו: חינוך בקהילה, גמילות חסדים,
ההיסטוריה של השכונה (כוללת קיבוץ גלויות וילדות בצל המעברות),
החיבור בין תושבים חדשים וותיקים, מועדון הנוער, ועוד. התכנסות
ביום ג', 19.9.23 (ד' תשרי) בשעה 19:30 בבית הכנסת אגודת אחים,
רח' הדקל 18. חניה במגרש מאחורי בית הכנסת (להכניס לוויז "מקווה
כפר גבירול 23 שיטה מלבינה, רחובות".)הסיור מאורגן ע"י קהילה
בשינוי, דרור ישראל, הרשות לביטחון קהילתי, מרכז הגישור, המרכזים
לצדק חברתי, קהילת פסיפס, פלוגתא, ואגף השכונות. הסיור ללא תשלום

There will be Shofar blowing on the second day of Rosh
Hashana: (a) at the Yekev on Hanasi Harishon street at 11:00,
and (b) at the open-air entrance to 35 Hanasi Harishon at
16:00.

- Lochamim
baSalon- A project initiated by Ori
Goldreich in cooperation with Amutat Nata"l to raise awareness
of post-trauma in the wake of army service. The program
involves a series of meetings in private homes, in which army
vetrans are able to describe the traumatic events to which
they were exposed, and to explain the difficulties that
accompany them in all aspects of their daily lives. The
ensuing discussion allows the vetrans to express their
feelings in a supportive environment, and enables the
participants to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon

- "לוחמים בסלון"
- פרויקט משותף עם עמותת נט"ל ביוזמת תלמיד ישיבת הדרום, אורי
גולדרייך להעלאת מודעות לפוסט טראומה על רקע צבאי, באמצעות מפגש
אישי ואנושי עם מי שלחמו עבורינו וחזרו בריאים בגופם אך פצועים
בנפשם. במסגרת הפרויקט, המעוניינים להקשיב, לתמוך ולשוחח, מגיעים
לסלון בית מארח לפגוש לוחמים שמשתפים מחוויות השירות הצבאי
והתמודדותם היומיומית בבית. בתום ההרצאה מתקיים שיח בין הקהל
לדובר. הפרויקט מאפשר למתמודדים להיראות, להישמע ולשתף בקשיים,
באותנטיות ובאווירה אינטימית וביתית, מה שמהווה צעד נוסף בתהליך
ההתמודדות שלהם. בתוך כך, עבור הקהל המפגש מאפשר חשיפה לנושא
"הפציעה השקופה", מעודד שיח פתוח, מסייע בהבנה ומאפשר הכלה של
