- In need of
kidney donation. From Claire Zakheim, Jerusalem. My
husband, Dov Zakheim, is in 4th stage kidney failure and needs
a life saving kidney donor blood type A. Dov is 73 years old
and has completed all the tests to qualify to be a kidney
recipient. He has been on dialysis three days a week for 15
months. He is doing the dialysis under the auspices of
Hadassah Hospital and under the supervision of Dr. Bloch. Dov
has been accepted to the National Kidney Recipient List in
Israel but, due to his age, they have told us that it will
take years for him to get to the top of that list. I, and the
rest of our immediate family have been ruled out as possible
donors. I am working with Matnat Chaim, a remarkable
non-profit organization, dedicated to helping those with
kidney failure to find a compatible donor. They “hold the
hand” of the kidney donor throughout the entire process.
Matnat Chaim has found social media to be an effective
technique for finding possible donors. Therefore, I am sending
out this message in the hope that you may know of someone who
is willing to do the incredible mitzvah of donating a kidney
to Dov in order to save his life. To learn how you can help or
for more information about kidney donation please call
02-500-0755 or email: tormim@kilya.org.il.
The email should clearly state that this is for Dov Zakheim.
All inquiries are strictly confidential and all medical costs
will be covered. You can also contact me personally and I will
put you in touch with Matnat Chaim.
