- We
deeply regret to announce the passing of our member Yitzhak
Yair z"l, husband of Chana. The funeral took place on
Saturday night, October 8, at the Rehovot cemetery. The family
sat Shiva on Sunday, October 9 (Erev Chag), at the Yair home.

- We wish
to thank the wonderful Berman community who came to
Efrat for Tuvia's funeral and for Shiva calls. l also, want to
thank those who conveyed beautiful messages via WhatsApp and by

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS
תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת
- Thank
you to the Succah crew, who coordinated building
(Jacob Silvermetz) and decorating (Deena Lederman and Shmoiki
Berkowitz) the Shul Succah!
- Aravot
will be available for purchase on Hoshana Rabba
morning outside Shul for NIS 10/bundle.
- Goody
bags for the kids will be distributed in the main
Shul immediately after Mincha on Simchat Torah evening (Sunday)
before Hakafot. One per child, please.
- Annual
Hashkama Minyan Potluck kiddush on Simchat Torah
morning. All participants are asked to contribute store-bought
food or drink. No homemade items due to Shul Kashrut policy.
- On
Simchat Torah morning, there will be two divrei Torah
for women by Pennina Safer (English) and Lior
Mizrachi (Hebrew), while the men are receiving
Aliyot. We will meet in the Beit Midrash after the first reading
of Vezot Habracha, and return in time for Kol Hana'arim.
- Yizkor.
A list of the deceased who were members at the time of their
passing, can be seen here (women) and here (men), and on the Noticeboard.
- Halacha
guide for Succot. Succot is a holiday rich with
custom and ritual, personal and communal. The attached guide "A
Succot 5783 Guide to Prayer and Ritual" by Rabbi
Aryeh Frimer contains much general information regarding ritual
observance. In addition, it will hopefully assist those
individuals who, because of Corona or other reasons, have chosen
to pray bi-yehidut (in the absence of a minyan) - through the
related issues. The useful guide is available here, and on the Noticeboard.
- Torah
readers needed for many Parshiot for the upcoming year.

- ESRA
Rehovot Chapter Presents Online via Zoom,
Wednesday, October 26, at 19:30, “Exploring the Universe with
the Webb Space Telescope,” a talk by Dr. Sara Beck. In the
last 50 years astronomy has been through an incredible
revolution. Until recently it was possible to detect mainly
visible light. Astronomers are using the new Webb Space
Telescope, which detects with infrared light, to see the
youngest stars and planets as they are being created. Sara
Beck Svetitsky studied at Princeton University and the
University of California at Berkeley. She is a Professor of
Astrophysics at Tel Aviv University. Cost: ESRA Members NIS
