• The Rehovot Anglo Hebrew Readers Group meets every second Monday morning via Zoom for one hour of reading and discussion of Hebrew-language texts. On Monday, February 8, the group will begin to read תקלה בקצה הגלקסיה‎, by Etgar Keret, a collection of short stories that won the Sapir Prize in 2018. • Creating Memory, the initiative for Holocaust Remembrance established by Marty Herskovitz is partnering with Nefesh B'Nefesh to sponsor a webinar in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day – a special online gathering to explore how memory impacts our personal and national journey. • ESRA Rehovot invites you to an online talk via zoom on “Jews Who Fought for Hitler,” by John Simon, Tuesday, 19 January at 19:30.Only one European combatant country emerged from WWII without any of its Jewish citizens being persecuted at home or deported to the Third Reich’s concentration or extermination camps. How and why the first Jews arrived in that cold and dark corner of the continent has no parallel in the annals of the diaspora, nor does the story of how openly Jewish soldiers in Finland’s army fought under German command in WWII… and survived. John Simon has written the first comprehensive history of Finland’s Jewish community, Strangers in a Stranger Land. This book was short-listed for History Book of the Year.
