- Halachic
guides. The High Holidays is a period rich with
custom and ritual, personal and communal. This year, in order to
minimize the possibility of Corona contagion and to allow for
social distancing, davening has in part moved outside the main
building to the area of the amphitheater and to the shaded area
on the Tachkemoni campus. Heat considerations and a desire to
minimize the duration of physical contact in Shul, have
generated a need to shorten the duration of the Yamim Nora’im
davening. The Halakha Committee of the Shul has drawn up three
sets of guidelines to facilitate this goal – which will be
implemented over the Yamim Nora’im.
(1) Guidelines for Shortening Selihot during Elul
5780 – Tishrei 5781
(2) Guidelines for Shortening the Davening on Rosh
HaShana 5781
(3) Guidelines for Shortening the Davening on Yom
Kippur 5781
On a personal level, many find the rich details of the Yamim
Nora’im challenging. In addition, because of Covid-19, many
individuals have chosen to pray completely or partially
be-yehidut (in the absence of a minyan). To this end, Rabbi
Aryeh Frimer has drafted the guides below which will hopefully
assist congregants in navigating through the various issues.
(4) A Rosh HaShana 5781 Corona Guide to Public and
Private Prayer and Ritual
(5) A Yom Kippur 5781 Corona Guide to Public and
Private Prayer and Ritual
Questions stemming from any of these documents may be referred
to Rabbi Frimer at the following email address: Aryeh.Frimer@biu.ac.il
Everything else:
- Rosh
Hashana Greetings from our members can be viewed here. Thanks to all who contributed. You
can still add your greeting by sending an email (you can include
a picture) to social@bermanshul.org
- Rosh
Hashanah Kids Programming. With Rosh Hashanah just around
the corner and the fact that this year our small children will
not be able to participate in the davening on the Berman campus,
we have created a Rosh Hashanah Children's Activity Guide to
make the chag a little more meaningful for young children. The
guide includes Tefillah, especially some key tefillot unique to
Rosh Hashanah, stories, games and a quiz that can be delivered
in a small gathering or even at home with siblings. We hope you
enjoy the guide and we wish you a happy and healthy new year! Download it here or from the Noticeboard.
- If you
think you'll need to blow shofar for yourself or someone else
this year, or if you're just interested in learning
how to blow shofar, one of our members has posted several videos
to YouTube, available here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ8FjZ-aqypqPQIlMA6wd9A.
- Shabbat

Zoom next Thursday, September 24th at 20:00. Details will be
posted on the live calendar and in next week's bulletin.

Kippur. Details of arrangements for Yom Kippur
Tefillot will be sent out next week.
