- Halachic
guide. This year the first day of Rosh HaShana falls
on Shabbat, leading to several important ritual changes on both
days. In addition, because of Covid-19, many individuals have
chosen to pray completely or partially be-yehidut (in the
absence of a minyan). The following guide, "Rosh HaShana 5781
(2020) Chronology," will hopefully assist the congregants
through these issues. The guide may be found here, and on the Noticeboard.
Everything else:
- The
Women's Rosh Hashana Shiur, that is usually held at
Ellen (Shankman's) home, will be shared this year on Berman's
Zoom (details below), next Tuesday evening, 15 September, at
19:30. The topic is "INTEGRITY" and the speakers will be Tamar
(Wides) Frank, Diane Gordon, Melodie Rosenfeld, Tami Unger, Rosi
Langbeheim and Ellen Shankman. We look forward to your joining
us – and BYOL (bring your own l'chaim)! Here are the meeting
details: https://zoom.us/j/96725540657?pwd=N0hkQmRaeldKYjdkR0FwUDhyenlTQT09

- Berman's
is compiling a file of New Year's greetings from its
friends and members. Please send an email to social@bermanshul.org
wishing everybody a good year, or whatever else you'd like to
say. It would be nice to include a picture (in .jpg format) so
that we can remember what you look like. Text can be written in
the email or in an attached Word file.
- Rosh
Hashanah Kids Programming With Rosh Hashanah just around
the corner and the fact that this year our small children will
not be able to participate in the davening on the Berman campus,
we have created a Rosh Hashanah Children's Activity Guide to
make the chag a little more meaningful for young children. The
guide includes Tefillah, especially some key tefillot unique to
Rosh Hashanah, stories, games and a quiz that can be delivered
in a small gathering or even at home with siblings. We hope you
enjoy the guide and we wish you a happy and healthy new year! Download it here or from the Noticeboard.
- If you
think you'll need to blow shofar for yourself or someone else
this year, or if you're just interested in learning
how to blow shofar, one of our members has posted several videos
to YouTube, available here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ8FjZ-aqypqPQIlMA6wd9A.

- School
has started and many Rehovot students do not have computers.
How will they participate in distance learning? The
Bermans Tzeddaka fund together with a group of concerned
Rehovot residents (“A Backpack for Each Pupil”) is helping to
provide essential school supplies -- including computers -- to
Rehovot students whose families cannot afford them. Recently
we raised donations to distribute more than 500 vouchers (each
worth 100 - 125 NIS) to needy students throughout Rehovot for
backpacks and other school supplies. Our current goal is to
locate and refurbish 250 computers for students who do not
have them. We are collecting old computers and cash donations
to buy parts to upgrade them. Professionals have volunteered
to do the refurbishing labor. Our Psifas Outreach Committee is
working together with the Rehovot Parent-Teacher Association,
the Centers for Social Justice, Dror Israel, and the Rehovot
Municipality. We are all volunteers and your entire
tax-deductible donation will go to purchase parts to refurbish
old computers. What can you do? Provide your old computers.
Write us at tiklekolyeled@gmail.com
to arrange drop off. Give a tax-deductible donation to
purchase computer parts via JGive: https://www.jgive.com/new/en/ils/charity-organizations/2491.
