SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS
תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת
- **Tonight** Rabbi Professor
Aryeh Frimer will be back with part 2 of his lectures on
Corona-Related Halakhic Issues. In this second shiur,
he will focus on four main issues: (1) the use of Zoom in
various Jewish rituals; (2) the Zoom Seder controversy; (3)
Shabbat use of automatic infrared thermometers; and (4) the
recitation of Magen Avot on erev Shabbat in non-permanent
minyanim. The Shiur will be in English via Zoom on Thursday
evening, July 23 at 20:45. The link to the shiur is as follows:

Tisha
Be'av:
- Fast
starts (July 29) 19:39; Maariv, Eicha, Kinnot 20:10
(without explanations or discussion). (July 30) Shacharit and
very abbreviated Kinnot 6:30 AM (NOTE CHANGE IN TIME FROM
CALENDAR); Mincha 19:10; Maariv 19:50; Fast ends 20:00. All Tfillot are OUTSIDE, and will be
limited to the numbers governing such gatherings at that
time (currently 20 per area). See
below for information regarding broadcast of Eicha and Kinnot
via Zoom, and several Zoom lectures during the day.
We remind you that shul siddurim and Kinnot books may not be
used. Applications and websites with the Tefillot, Eicha, and
Kinnot can be found online, for example App called 'Kinnot Tish
Be'av Ashkenaz', and website at: http://www.daat.ac.il/daat/vl/tohen.asp?id=131
- Live
stream and lectures. This year, although we are
faced with limitations on our 'in-house' (but outside) davening,
we are providing a program which we hope will address some of
the desire and need for communal activity:
20:10 Eicha and Kinnot Tisha Be'av night will
be broadcast over Zoom for those who can’t make it to shul https://zoom.us/j/96463076249?pwd=NndlMkx5T3N4N2VVYVh2aTVpMFc3Zz09.
Meeting ID: 964 6307 6249 Passcode: 793753. In the morning, we
will daven outside shul, and those attending shacharit will have
ample time to return home for extended Kinnot [which will be led
by R' Aryeh Frimer from his home], and other lectures, all via
Zoom:
9:00 – 9:45 shiur on the Agadot Churban (in
Hebrew) by Rav Mottie Goldreich.
10:00–11:00 Kinot with explanations by Rav
Aryeh Frimer. The link for both lectures is: https://zoom.us/j/99816232536?pwd=djBuR1BuNjk2WDhBUGdVQ2ZtMWR5Zz09
17:00 “From Glory to Destruction” Dr. Asaf
Mills from Machon Megalim. https://zoom.us/j/93162028710?pwd=diszb1BoSmRLTUVIMXBydnFQb09qUT09
- The
text of the Kinah "Hazocher" for Tisha Be'av,
commemorating those who were murdered in the Holocaust, may be
found on the Noticeboard.
- Next
week's bulletin will be sent out late Thursday, after the
fast. In case Moshiach arrives on Tisha Be'av this
year, it would be a shame for the announcement to miss the
bulletin. צום קל ומועיל
Other:
- Wanted-
Shlichei Tzibbur for the Yamim Noraim. We cannot
predict the future, but it’s safe to assume that the upcoming
Yamim Noraim will be very different than past years’. The Shul
is committed to maximizing people’s opportunity to participate
in davening over the High Holidays and is therefore planning to
convene in small minyanim in compliance with such Ministry of
Health regulations that may be in place at the time. To do that,
the Shul needs more Baalei Tefilla to daven before the amud. We
do not yet know how many additional minyanim will be formed, or
where they will take place. Along with all the safety
considerations, it will depend on how many baalei Tefilla are
available to help out this year. Anyone interested in davening
Shacharit or Mussaf over the Yamim Noraim should please be in
touch with Daniel Schwartz at cantordbsesq@gmail.com.
-
- Kaddish.
Daniel Schwartz is available to say Kaddish on behalf
of people unable to come to shul. Please email Daniel at cantordbsesq@gmail.com
with the name of the person for whom you are saying Kaddish, and
he will do so at the morning minyan.

those in the parts of north-east Rehovot (lower Nassi
Harishon/Haraz/Hagra/Meltzer Miller etc) that suffer from
poor/non-existent cell phone reception, here is a
link to the Communication Ministry ‘contact us’ page. https://forms.gov.il/globaldata/getsequence/getHtmlForm.aspx?formType=ContactUs@moc.gov.il#
On page 1, on the right choose 2nd option- cell phone and
landlines. Then free text for complaint. Page 2 is contact
info. Just state that you have terrible reception and changing
companies doesn’t seem to help (and each company just says
‘move to a different carrier’). Hopefully if they get enough
complaints, they will force/allow the companies to put up an
additional antenna.
