• Mazal Tov to Angie and Mike Ze’evi on the birth of a grandson, a son to first-time parents, Esti and Yigal Auman of Givat Shmuel. Mazal Tov as well to great-grandparents Betty and Ed Wolfe of Modiin, and to grandparents Sherrie and Adrian Auman of Raanana.

• Mazal Tov to Adele and Tuvia Muskin on the birth of a granddaughter, a daughter their children Shulamit and Motti Muskin of Jerusalem.
• Mazal Tov to Debbie and Dr. Jack Morgenstern on the birth of a great granddaughter, a daughter to Yanai and Amit Jascourt, and granddaughter to Ian and Paula Morgenstern Jascourt.

Bar/Bat Mitzva:

• Mazal Tov to Tamara and Daniel Schwartz, on the Bar Mitzva of their son, Gershy. Mazel Tov to Gershy on this milestone, and Mazel Tov to his brother Alex and sister Talia. Mazel tov to grandma, Judith Pruchno of Jerusalem, who is fortunately able to celebrate with us this Shabbat. Due to the Corona crisis, Gershi's Bar Mitzvah celebration was postponed, but we are grateful and honored to mark this milestone with our Berman family. And we hope we will all be able to celebrate more and more happy occasions in the future.
• מזל טוב לתמרה ודניאל שוורץ, לרגל בר המצווה של בנם גרשי. מזל טוב לגרשי על ציון דרך זה, ומזל טוב לאחיו אלכס ואחותו טליה. מזל טוב לסבתא, ג'ודית פרוכנו מירושלים, שלמרבה המזל היא מסוגלת לחגוג איתנו את השבת הזו. בעקבות משבר קורונה נדחה חגיגת בר המצווה של גרשי. אך אנו מודים וכבוד לנו לציון אבן דרך זו בהשתתפות משפחת ברמן. ואנחנו מקווים שכולנו נזכה לחגוג עוד ועוד שמחות בעתיד.
• Mazal Tov to Judy and Eli Schmell on the Bar Mitzvah of their grandson, Zohar Matan Feiler. Mazal Tov as well to Zohar's parents Ronnit and Adam Feiler, and sisters Kayla and Gefen, and Rivka, Nir, Shirel, Hadar and Yitzchak David Meister, Zohar's proud aunt, uncle and cousins.

• We deeply regret to announce the passing of Marilyn Finkel z”l, one of our founding members, and the sister of our member Jack Morgenstern. Jack sat shiva in his home through Wednesday morning, June 10. SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• We have adopted safety rules, whether inside or outside of our building, based on MANDATORY Ministry of Health (MoH) and other regulations and precautions. These rules are not optional, and are meant to protect you and everyone around you, during Shul activities. Please be mindful that there are many high risk members, who have a legitimate expectation that the most basic of these rules – masks covering both your mouth and nose, plus minimum distances between persons – will be strictly followed by you at all times. We also ask that children who do not wear masks be kept away from davening areas.
  As required by the MoH, the Shul has appointed several “Corona Compliance Officers”. If need be, they will remind you that your mask MUST cover both your mouth and nose and you MUST maintain a distance from others. This is their job, they are doing it voluntarily to protect all of us. If you do not agree with them, Shul is not the place to start arguing with them over the merits of these rules. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in these very challenging times. The Board
• קהילת ברמן אימצה מספר כללי התנהלות למשתתפים בתפילה, בין אם בחוץ או במבנה בית הכנסת, על בסיס תקנות החירום, צווי בריאות העם, והנחיות והוראות מחייבות של משרד הבריאות החלים על פעילות בית הכנסת. כללים אלה אינם אופציונליים ומטרתם להגן אליך ועל כל הסובבים אותך בעת השתתפותך בתפילה ופעילות בית הכנסת. כמו כן, נבקש להקפיד כי ילדים שאינם עוטים מסכה מכל סיבה (אף אם מפאת גילם בלבד) לא יתקרבו לאזורי התפילה. אנא שימו לב, כי יש הרבה מאד חברי קהילה מבוגרים יותר וכן אנשים שנמצאים בסיכון מוגבר מהנגיף, אשר יש להם ציפייה לגיטימית שהכללים היסודיים ביותר מבין כללים אלה – עטית מסכה המכסה את הפה ואת האף, וכן שמירת מרחק נאות בין אנשים – יקוימו על ידי כל חברי הקהילה ואורחיהם. כפי שנדרש על ידי משרד הבריאות, בית הכנסת מינה מספר "נאמני קורונה". ככל שיהיה צורך בכך, הם יזכירו למי שצריך תזכורת לעטות מסכה ולשמור מרחק מאחרים וכן יספקו מסכה למי ששכח להביא/לעטות ואין לו. זה הוא תפקידם, וזה בהתנדבות על מנת להגן על כולנו. ככל שאינך מסכים עמם ו/או עם כללי ההתנהלות של בית הכנסת, בית הכנסת אינו המקום להתחיל ויכוח עמם על ההצדקה או הנכונות של הכללים שנקבעו בהתאם לדין. אנו מודים לכם מראש על הבנתכם ושיתוף הפעולה בתקופת המשבר המאתגר הזו. בברכה – ועד המנהל

  You must bring your own siddur and chumash, wearing of masks covering the nose and mouth is required without exception, attendance is limited to ages 12 and up, inside minyans for members only, seating is in designated seats that are 2 meters apart from all other participants. No signup required, but if indoor minyan exceeds the maximum people allowed, additional persons will be referred to an outdoor minyan. Disinfectant wipes will be available; please wipe down your seat, stand, and surroundings before and after use.
• Shul life without shul. Owing to the totally new situation we all find ourselves in owing to the inability of many of us to attend regular shul services, we are facilitating a forum (through 4 similar focus groups, each with about 10 screens) for discussing what we are experiencing, missing, expecting and how we are coping during this prolonged period when our weekly shot of tefilla, camaraderie and information (global, national and personal!) has come to an abrupt stop! The same focus group (albeit with different participants), moderated by Stephen Simpson and Daniel Schwartz, will be held on each one of the following dates/times:
  1. Sunday morning 14 June at 10:00
  2. Sunday evening 14 June at 20:00
  3. Tuesday morning 16 June at 10:00
  4. Thursday evening 18 June at 20:00
  Please select all the times on the form that could work for you and we'll then compile each group's participants based upon your preferences. If you are interested in reading more about this initiative and participating in a group, please use this link to fill out a very short application form to tell us all your date/time possibilities and any particular aspect of this new Corona situation relating to the Berman’s Community Center that you would like to share, suggest or discuss. You will be sent a Zoom link before the meeting to the email address you provide in the linked short application form. Please reply immediately or by this Friday morning at the latest (13:00) to allow us time to notify the first group participants as soon as possible.
• **RESUMING THIS WEEK**Horim, Yeladim, Pizza and Learning (HYPAL, but without the pizza) resumes this Shabbat afternoon from 18:00 to 19:00, in a slightly altered format. We will meet OUTSIDE – in the areas of the amphitheater, the pergola, and the Yeshivat Hadarom lawn. All ages are welcome. Ministry of health guidelines need to be followed: each family must stay at least two meters apart from other families, and participants need to wear face masks. Plastic chairs will be available. Please bring your own books as the shul’s library will not be accessible.
• תוכנית הורים, ילדים, פיצה ולימוד (ללא פיצה) יתחדש בשבת בחוץ (באמפיתיאטרון, תחת הפרגולה ועל הדשא), בין 18:00-19:00. כל הגילאים מוזמנים. יש לציית להוראות משרד הבריאות: שמירת מרחק של 2 מטרים בין משפחות, ועטית מסכות. כסאות מפלסטיק יהיו זמינים, אך כולם מתבקשים להביא ספרים מהבית כי לא יהיה נגישות לספריית ביה"כ.

• Apple picking. The Colb family invites the membership to apple picking, this Friday June 12th from 13:00-16:00, at the Hatov VeHametiv farms in Rehovot. Waze: Amutat Hatov VeHametiv. • Kaddish. Daniel Schwartz is available to say Kaddish on behalf of people unable to come to shul. Please email Daniel at cantordbsesq@gmail.com with the name of the person for whom you are saying Kaddish, and he will do so at the morning minyan.
