• *This week!!*...and every winter Motzaei Shabbat. Horim, Yeladim, Pizza and Learning (HYPAL) - will take place on motza'ei Shabbat in back of the shul.  During the month of December we’ll meet from 18:00 to 19:00.  The first 40 minutes will be open learning time followed by a short dvar Torah and pizza (including gluten-free; we need a sponsor for this week’s pizza).  Feel free to bring books/materials of your own. Some suggested learning sheets as well as the library sefarim will be available for use. All ages are welcome.
• *השבוע*ערב הורים, ילדים, פיצה ולימוד יתקיים במוצאי שבת הזה -  בספריית בית הכנסת, בחודש דצמבר בין 18:00-19:00. ארבעים הדקות הראשונות יוקדשו ללימוד חופשי ואחר כך יהיה דבר תורה קצר ופיצה (כולל נטול-גלוטן, אנו זקוקים לתורם לפיצה השבוע). תרגישו חפשיים להביא ספרים/חומרים משלכם. בנוסף, ספרי הספרייה יהיו זמינים. ערב הלימוד מיועד לכל הגילאים.
• Rabbi Aryeh Ben David will be giving a workshop this Sunday, December 8 at the Berman Shul at 8:00 pm (Maariv at 19:50) on "losing and finding your own voice in prayer". The workshop is in English and will be based on his new book “Prayers of the Lost and Found: Reflections on Becoming a Prayerful Human Being”, which will be sold at a special discount that evening. • Community Shabbaton for conversion class participants. On the Shabbat of January 3/4, Parashat Vayigash, the Berman community will be hosting a group of young people going through conversion. We are looking for some families who can host them with / without meals (or join them for a communal meal). I also want to organize a joint activity / shiur with community members. • Seeking volunteers to help the same group of converts study for their conversion test. Anyone who can spend an hour or more learning with them in the synagogue's library, going over the material for the exam would be greatly appreciated! The study marathon will be on Sunday 5/1/2020 from 17:00 - 21:00. Please let me know in advance when you can come. It is very important to sit in small groups or one-on-one with them, so would appreciate as many volunteers as possible. • Shul survey of interest in youth activities. We are in the planning stages of implementing a comprehensive youth program for the children of our shul. Plans are in the early stages but we would like to gauge interest from our members in such a program. The implementation of this program may include hiring of a Youth Director, organizing separate groups for different age groups on Shabbat in closed classrooms, and other activities throughout the year. • Save the date! Sunday night, December 22, the first night of Chanuka, there will be a candle lighting celebration with music, food, and activities for adults and kids. More details coming soon.
• Torah readers needed for many parshiot for 5780. To volunteer, please contact Shmulie Pineles for the main minyan, or Moshe Appel (looking especially for sefer shmot) for the Hashkama minyan. Volunteers through high school age are paid by the shul for their efforts.
