SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• Shiur [in English] in memory of Avi Kanon z'l. Sunday Nov. 10, 2019. Ma'ariv, 7:50 pm; Shiur, 8:00 pm. "The Binding of Isaac," an event that shakes our sense of natural morality. Why did God make this command? What are we to learn? Rabbi Mois Navon, one of the founding engineers of Mobileye, is known as the "Rabbi of Mobileye". He is now working on a PhD in Jewish Philosophy. Details in flier on the Noticeboard
• The Berman Bikur Holim group is going live, and has close to 20 volunteers. If anyone could benefit from visits at home or in the hospital, please contact Freida Ollech 052-678-2857.
• הוקמה קבוצה לביקור חולים מטעם בית הכנסת. אנו נעשה מאמץ לבקר את כל מי שמבקש ביקור, בין אם זה בביתם או בבית חולים. במידה ואתם מעוניינים בביקור חולים נא ליצור קשר עם פרידה אולך 052-678-2857. כל טוב ורק בריאות!
• "MIX IT UP!" Shabbat The Berman Community has been blessed again with many new families in the last year. To help everyone get to know each other, this Shabbat (Nov. 9th), the Kiddush will be sponsored by the shul in honor of our new members. We will also provide name tags for all members, which you may optionally affix to your clothing. In addition, we will be pairing families for a Shabbat meal. As part of this week's Kiddush, we will be posting Fun Facts about our new members. You can see them on the Noticeboard and they will be taped up on the Pergola during Kiddush. Guess which fact belongs to which family! Walk around and MIX IT UP! New members will have different color name tags so it will be easier to find them.
• קהילתנו התברכה בשנים האחרונות בהרבה משפחות חדשות. כדי לעזור לכולם להכיר אלו את אלו אנו מתכננים שני אירועים השבת. הקידוש השבת יהיה בחסות בית הכנסת לכבוד החברים החדשים. באותה שבת יחלקו תגיות עם שמות חברי בית הכנסת שניתן יהיה להדביק על הבגד. בנוסף אנו מחברים משפחות לארוחת שבת. עובדות משעשעות על החברים החדשים אפשר למצוא בלוח מודעות.
• Kristallnacht commemoration. Light instead of darkness, life instead of destruction. 81 years ago on the night of November 9th many synagogues were destroyed and burned throughout Germany in what is known as Kristallnacht. This year, we will join many congregations that leave the synagogue lights lit on Kristallnacht against the darkness that fell that night. This year we will leave the lights on tonight, Thursday night, November 7,  since  November 9 is מוצאי שבת.
• אור במקום חושך, תקומה במקום אבדן, חיים במקום חורבן. לפני 81 שנים בלילה שבין 9 ל 10 בנובמבר נשדדו נהרסו ונשרפו בתי כנסת רבים ברחבי גרמניה במה שמכונה ליל הבדולח. השנה נצטרף בקהילה לקהילות רבות המשאירות את אורות בית הכנסת דולקים בליל הבדולח כנגד האורות שכבו בלילה ההוא . השנה התאריך יוצא במוצ"ש ולכן השנה נשאיר את האורות דולקים היום יום חמישי ליל י חשוון .
• Shiurim in the Beit Midrash Nishmat Chaya will resume this Tuesday, November 12th at 8.00. Rav Lindenbaum will give a series of shiurim on how Torah and Halacha meet the challenges of a changing world. The first topic will deal with the issue of segregation of men and women. Does halacha condone a mixed society? Do social norms have any influence on halacha? We will study the relevant sources and their application to modern times. We would be happy to welcome more participants in these shiurim which deal with issues which are relevant  (and often controversial) to our society today
• בית מדרש נשמת חיה. השיעורים בבית המדרש מתחדשים בע"ה ביום שלישי הקרוב בשעה 8.00 בערב. הרב לינדנבאום יתן סדרת שיעורים על "תורה והלכה בעולם משתנה". הנושא הראשון בסדרה הוא: האם לפי ההלכה רצוי להפריד בין נשים וגברים. מהי השקפת ההלכה על חברה בריאה, חברה נפרדת או חברה מעורבת? האם יש לנורמות החברתיות השפעה על המערכת ההלכתית? האם זה רצוי או כורח המציאות? עיון תיאורטי ומעשי בחיי המציאות לאור ההלכה והתפתחותה. נשמח לראות יותר משתתפים בשיעורים אלה העוסקים בנושאים אקטואליים המעוררים מחלוקת בחברה הישראלית.

• ישיבת ההנהלה של בית הכנסת תתקיים ביום א', 17.11.19 בשעה 19:30.
• Torah readers needed for many parshiot for 5780. To volunteer, please contact Shmulie Pineles for the main minyan, or Moshe Appel (looking especially for sefer shmot) for the Hashkama minyan. Volunteers through high school age are paid by the shul for their efforts.
