Bereavement and Memorial זיכרון ושכול

• We deeply regret to announce the passing of Moshe Topas z”l, the brother of our member Gershon Topas. The funeral was held on Tuesday November 27th in Baltimore, Maryland. Gershon will be sitting shiva with his family in Baltimore, through Monday morning, December 3rd. (The address is 3102 Glen Avenue.) He can be contacted via WhatsApp, at 058-645-6439. • The Azkara for our member Heshie Basch z'l will take place on Friday December 7th at 10:00 AM at the Rehovot cemetery.
  

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• **Next Wednesday evening** Berman Communal Chanukah Candle Lighting, with music, song and Chanukah programming suitable for all ages. The program will take place on Wednesday evening December 5th (4th night of Chanukah) and will include candidates for giyyur with their families, and recent geirim, so that they can experience Chanukah and meet members of the Berman community. If anyone knows additional geirim or course participants, please invite them, as well:
  18:00- Short Hebrew shiur on Chanukah basics for the geirim (all are invited) in the shul, with arts and crafts outside for the kids.
  18:30- Ma'ariv (Yeshiva dinning room).
  18:45- Candle lighting and Chanukah songs (Yeshiva dinning room).
  19:15- Dairy meal
  19:45- Program led by Ilana Friedlander, with musical interludes by professional musicians.
  Cost: NIS10/participant over age 3, maximum NIS 50 per family. Note that the communal lighting does not fulfill the obligation to light Chanukah candles at home.
• **שבוע הבא ביום רביעי**הדלקת נרות חגיגית קהילתית הפעילות תתקיים ביום רביעי, נר רביעי של חנוכה, אור לכ"ח כסלו, 5.12.18. באירוע יקחו חלק גם כיתת מתגיירים ובני משפחתם. על מנת שהמתגיירים יחוו כראוי את רוח החג וירגישו את המשמעות והעוצמה של הקהילה נשמח למעורבות גבוהה שלכם - מבוגרים, צעירים וילדים כאחד. כמוכן אם מי מכם אירח או מכיר מתגיירים, מוזמן להביאם לאירוע. התוכנית כוללת שלל פעילויות, שמתאימות לכל גיל. בתוכנית:
  18:00 שיעור בסיסי (לגרים) בעברית, בנושא חנוכה, בבית הכנסת (פתוח לכל המבוגרים) . במקביל- יצירות חנוכה מיוחדות לילדים.
  18:30 תפילת ערבית בחדר האוכל של ישיבת הדרום.
  18:45 הדלקת נרות חנוכה + שירי חנוכה.
  19:15 ארוחת ערב עשירה.
  19:45 תוכנית חוויתית, בהנחיית אילנה פרידלנדר.
  הערב ילווה בקטעי שירה ונגינה עם נגנים מקצועיים. עלות לכל משתתף: 10 ש"ח למבוגר/ילד ועד 50 ש"ח למשפחה (ילד מתחת לגיל 3 לא משלם). התשלום יתבצע במזומן בערב האירוע. על מנת שנוכל להיערך בהתאם נודה אם תציינו כמה בני משפחה מתכוונים להגיע, בלינק כאן. לפרטים נוספים ניתן ליצור קשר עם: אילנה פרידלנדר 053-570-6592 או בתיה גרוס 054-494-7194. שימו לב: אין יוצאים ידי חובת הדלקת נרות בהדלקה בבית הכנסת ולכן יש להדליק נרות חנוכה עוד קודם לכן, בבית.
• Tevet Jointly Sponsored Yahrtzeit Kiddush. The Tevet JSK will be held on December 15th Parashat Vayigash. To participate in the kiddush, please contact Judd Bogdansky (jbogdansky@gmail.com) no later than Sunday December 9th. Participation: 150 NIS per person memorialized. Judd confirms all emails he receives; if you do not hear back, please follow up.
• קידוש משותף לימי זיכרון טבת. הקידוש המשותף לציון ימי זיכרון (יארצייט) של חודש טבת יתקיים בשבת פרשת ויגש 15 בדצמבר. אם ברצונך להשתתף נא ליצור קשר עם ג'וד בוגדנסקי (jbogdansky@gmail.com) לא יאוחר מיום ראשון, 9 בדצמבר. השתתפות: 150 ש'ח לכל שם. ג'וד מאשר קבלה לכל הודעת דוא"ל שהוא מקבל, אך היו מקרים שהודעות שנשלחו אליו לא התקבלו. אם לא קיבלתם מענה, אנא צרו עמו קשר שוב.
• Looking for a number of people willing to teach a few lessons in basic Judaism in simple Hebrew. The shiur is intended for Berman community members and converts. There will be a rotation among the teachers. The topics will include: Faith, Halacha, Tfilla, holidays and more. • The board reminds the membership that, to protect the privacy of our members, there are restrictions on the use of the shul membership list (these rules apply equally to the printed, .pdf, and website versions). The shul list may be used for personal and social activities (eg to invite someone for a shabbat meal, to check your host's address etc), but may not be used to promote any business or political activity (thus, you may not use the list to obtain phone numbers or email addresses for use in any political campaign, to promote a business, or for other commercial purposes). Nevertheless, members may advertise in the Basement section of the Bulletin (within reason) to inform readers of goods or services for sale. Finally, the shul's name may not be used in a way that implies endorsement of any product or political party.
• הנהלת בית הכנסת מזכירה לחברים שעל מנת להגן על פרטיות חברינו, מוטלות מגבלות על השימוש ברשימת חברי בית הכנסת (והכללים חלים על הרשימה בין אם היא בדפוס, כקובץ PDF או מופיעה באתר הקהילה ובית הכנסת). אפשר להשתמש ברשימת החברים בבית הכנסת לשימושים פרטיים וחברתיים (לדוגמה, על מנת להזמין מישהו לארוחת שבת, לבדוק את כתובתו של המארח וכו'), אך אין להשתמש בה על מנת לקדם עסקים או פעילות פוליטית (אין להשתמש ברשימה על מנת להשיג מספרי טלפון וכתובות דוא"ל לשימוש במסע פוליטי או על מנת לקדם עסק, או לכל מטרה מסחרית אחרת). עם זאת, חברים רשאים לפרסם במדור 'מרתף' בעלון (בגבולות הסביר) פרסומות שנועדו להביא לידיעת הקוראים טובין או שירותים למכירה. ולסיום, אין להשתמש בשמו של בית הכנסת כך שישתמע כאילו הוא מעניק חסות למוצר או לגורם פוליטי.
• The AGM is coming...save the date. The annual membership meeting (AGM) will take place on Motzaei Shabbat January 5, 2019 at 8:00 PM. Materials for the meeting will be published when available on the "Member documents" page.
