• We deeply regret to announce the passing of our member Henry Sussman z"l, the husband of our member Lisa Sussman. The funeral took place on erev chag, Sunday, September 23, at Moshav Nataf in Harei Yehuda. There was no shiva due to the chag. • We are saddened to announce the passing of Sidney Weiss, z”l, the father of our member Barbara Morgenstern. • Thank yous for Sukkot. Thank you to Jacob Silvermetz and crew for building the shul Sukkah, and to Batya Gross, Omri Flicker, Shirel Schmell-Meister, and helpers for its decoration. Thank you as well to Judd Bogdansky, host families, and participating kids and their parents for a fun, tasty, and educational Sukkah hop. Finally, thank you to the kiddush staff who have been working overtime to feed hordes of hungry people day after day on shabbat and chag: Yitzchak Kanovsky who recently retired as [young] kiddush manager, replaced by Yair Pomerantz, all the youth who work in setting up and cleaning, with the entire enterprise overseen by Judd Bogdansky.
• תודות של סוכות: תודה ליעקב סילברמץ וצוות המתנדבים שבנו את סוכת בית הכנסת, וכן לבתיה גרוס, עמרי פליקר, ושיראל שמל-מייסטר וכל מי שעזר בקישוטים. תודה גם לג'אד בוגדנסקי, המשפחות המארחות, ולילדים וההורים שהשתתפו בסבב הסוכות הכיפי, הטעים, והחינוכי. לבסוף, תודה לצוות הקידוש שעבד שעות נוספות על מנת להאכיל מסות של אנשים רעבים יום אחרי יום בימי שבת וחג: יצחק קנובסקי שיצא לאחרונה לגמלאות לאחר כהונתו כמנהל קידושים, ולמחליפו, יאיר פומראנץ, לכל הצעירים שעמלים בהכנה ובניקיון לאחר הקידוש, וכן למי שמפקח על תעשית קידושי בית הכנסת – ג'אד בוגדנסקי.

• Simchat Torah Divrei Torah for women. On Simchat Torah morning, we will continue the tradition started by Chaya Tannor z'l and hear two divrei Torah by women for women (one in English (Rebecca Krausz) and one in Hebrew (Miri Pomerantz)), while the men are repeatedly reading וזאת הברכה. We will walk to the Beit Midrash immediately after the first round of aliyot.
• דברי תורה לנשים בשמחת תורה. בבוקר שמחת תורה, נמשיך את המסורת שחיה טנור ז"ל התחילה ונשמע שני דברי תורה לנשים מפי נשים (אחד בעברית ואחד באנגלית) בזמן שהגברים קוראים שוב (ושוב) את "וזאת הברכה". נלך לבית המדרש מיד לאחר סבב העליות הראשון.
• Simchat Torah Hashkama minyan pot luck kiddush. The annual early minyan potluck bring-your-own-food Simchat Torah kiddush is just around the corner. Those attending Simchat Torah (Shmini Atzeret) morning Teffilot at the early (hashkama) minyan are asked to bring a solid or liquid edible contribution. Prepackaged only, please, in accordance with shul kashrut guidelines.
• Combined Tishrei/Cheshvan Jointly Sponsored Yahrtzeit Kiddush. The Tishrei/Cheshvan JSK will be held on October 13, Parashat Noach. To participate in the kiddush, please contact Judd Bogdansky (jbogdansky@gmail.com) no later than Sunday October 7th. Participation: 150 NIS per person memorialized. Judd confirms all emails he receives; if you do not hear back, please follow up.
