**This week!!** Scholar in Residence. Parshat Bechukotai (27th of Iyar, May 12th). Rabbi Prof. Joshua Berman, professor of Tanakh at Bar-Ilan University, will give 2 lectures as scholar in residence.
1. Shabbat morning after Kiddush at ~11:00 (in English): “In the Mind of Boaz: Reading Ruth Perek 2”
2. Shabbat afternoon following mincha (approx 19:10) (in Hebrew): המושג "ברית” על רקע כתובות ומושגים מהמזרח הקדום

בשבת פרשת בחקתי (27 אייר, 12 במאי) אנו שמחים לארח את פרופ' יהושוע ברמן. פרופ ברמן יעביר שתי הרצאות:
1. שבת בבוקר אחרי הקידוש בשעה 11:00 (באנגלית) “In the Mind of Boaz: Reading Ruth Perek 2”
2. שבת אחר הצהריים אחרי מנחה בערך ב19:10 (בעברית) המושג "ברית” על רקע כתובות ומושגים מהמזרח הקדום. פרטים על לוח המודעות.
Come celebrate Yom Yerushalayim at Berman Shul with a “festive” lecture to take place on motzaei Yom Yerushalayim, Sunday Evening, 28th of Iyar 5778 (May 13th, 2018). The lecture will be given by Oren Sapir, Senior Lecturer at Machon Megalim, Jerusalem, who will speak in Hebrew on "כעיר שחוברה לה יחדיו". Using rare photographs, documents and movies, Oren will tell the story of a divided city post- War of Independence and pre- Six Day War and the heroic battles of the Jerusalem Brigade, Paratroopers and Har’El Brigade during the Six Day War. The lecture will also show the connection between the modern history of Jerusalem and its roots from the time of King David. Ma’ariv: 20:00 Lecture 20:10.
יום ירושלים. בואו לחגוג את יום ירושלים בבית הכנסת ברמן עם הרצאה במוצאי יום ירושלים, יום א ', כ"ח באייר תשס"ח (13 במאי). ההרצאה תינתן על ידי אורן ספיר מרצה בכיר ב"מכון מגלים" ירושלים. הוא ירצה בעברית על "עיר שחוברה לה יחדיו". באמצעות תצלומים נדירים, מסמכים וסרטים, אורן יספר את סיפורה של ירושלים המחולקת לאחר מלחמת השיחרור והעיר המאוחדת לאחר מלחמת ששת הימים. ההרצאה גם תתמקד על קרבות הגבורה של חטיבת ירושלים, הצנחנים וחטיבת "הראל" במלחמת ששת הימים. ההרצאה תציג גם את הקשר בין ההיסטוריה המודרנית של ירושלים לשורשיה מתקופת דוד המלך. מעריב: 20:00 הרצאה 20:10.
Shavuot. On Shavuot afternoon (Sunday May 20th) approximately an hour and a half before mincha, there will be a parent/child learning program. Children of all ages welcome. The learning will be facilitated by several parents with material prepared for various ages. Refreshments to include Ben & Jerry's ice cream sundae bar. שבועות. במהלך חג השבועות (יום א' 20.5.18) יערך לימוד הורים וילדים, בחסות ועדת תרבות וועדת חינוך. הלימוד יחל כשעה וחצי לפני תפילת מנחה. ילדים והורים בכל הגילאים מוזמנים. הלימוד ילווה על ידי מספר הורים ומותאם לגילאים שונים. במהלך הלימוד יוגש כיבוד קל שיכלול גם בר גלידה של Ben & Jerry's. בואו בשמחה ושנזכה לעסוק יחד בדברי תורה. לוח זמני ההרצאות ללימוד ליל שבועות נמצא כאן.

Rehovot municipality is sponsoring two religious musical events to celebrate Yom Yerushalaim. The first is at the Beit Knesset Hagadol at 8 PM on Saturday evening, May 12, 2018 where festive prayers and Maariv will be song by Chazon-Moshe Ben Paz, and the choir - Lamnatzeach Binginut. The second event is a gala concert on Sunday evening, May 13, 2018 at 8:30pm at Heichal Hatarbut-Beit Haam. A number of world famous Chazanim will participate, including Yaacov Mutzin, Avrami Rot and others, who will be accompanied by the Raanana symphony orchestra and a 60 voice male choir lead by Yankela Rotner. All tickets are only 60 shekels and can be purchased by calling Tzvia at 052-2319959
The Rehovot Hebrew-Readers Group begins to read a new novel, המקווה האחרון בסיביר‎ (The last Mikve in Siberia), by Eshkol Nevo, Monday, May 21.
