SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• Set up for Beit Midrash and Hashkama minyanim. Volunteers needed to help set up the rooms for the Beit Midrash and Hashkama minyanim on Tuesday evening Sept 19th at 20:00, and to dismantle the Mechitzot and unset the rooms, immediately after Maariv on Motzaei Shabbat after Rosh Hashana. Yom Kippur setup will be on Thursday Sept 28th also at 20:00, and resetting the rooms immediately after Havdala and break-fast on Motzaei Yom Kippur. Please remember that we are a single community and please come help (it will not take long) whichever minyan you plan to attend.
• ארגון חדרי התפילה עבור מניין בית המדרש, ומניין ההשכמה. דרושים מתנדבים לעזור לארגן את החדרים עבור מניין בית המדרש, מניין ההשכמה ומניין הספרייה ביום ג' 19/9 בשעה 20:00, וכן לפרק את המחיצות ולסדר מחדש את החדרים מיד אחרי ערבית במוצאי שבת שובה. ארגון החדרים ליום כיפור ב28/9 בשעה 20:00 ופירוק אחרי הבדלה במוצאי יום כיפור. אנא זכרו כי אנחנו קהילה אחת ובואו לעזור ללא תלות במניין שבו אתם מתכוונים להתפלל בו (זה לא יקח הרבה זמן).
• The Beit Midrash minyan is full, and registration for that minyan is closed. If you are still planning to purchase seats (late fees apply), please choose one of the other minyanim (main, Hashkama, or library). If you would like to switch from the Beit Midrash minyan to one of the other minyanim, please send an email to geraldkriger@gmail.com.
• לכל מי שעדיין מתכוון להזמין מקום לתפילה בימים הנוראים- לא ניתן להזמין יותר מקומות למניין בבית המדרש כי אין בו מקום. ניתן להזמין מקומות בכל אחד מהמניינים האחרים (המניין המרכזי, מניין השכמה, והמניין בספריה). אם הזמנתם מקום במניין של בית המדרש וברצונכם לשנות את בחירתכם, נא לעדכן אותנו בכתובת geraldkriger@gmail.com.
• Looking for volunteers to blow shofar for people who cannot get to shul: If you can blow shofar and are willing to volunteer to blow for people who are home-bound, please contact Dan Feigelson (djfeigel@yahoo.com, 052-583-8618). There will be an additional shofar blowing at 12:15 in the main shul on both days of Rosh Hashana for those who are unable to be inside during the davening. Please allow people to leave at the end of services before coming in, but please be on time, as those blowing shofar will not blow repeatedly for late comers.
• אנחנו מחפשים מתנדבים לצורך תקיעה בשופר למען אלו שאינם יכולים להגיע לבית הכנסת: אם יש באפשרותך לתקוע בשופר וברצונך להתנדב לעשות זאת עבור מי שמרותק לביתו, אנא צור קשר עם דן פייגלסון (במייל: djfeigel@yahoo.com או בטל': 052-5838618). תקיעת שופר נוספת תתקיים בשעה 12:15 בבית כנסת המרכזי בשני ימי ראש השנה עבור אלו שאינם יכולים לשהות בבית כנסת בזמן התפילה. אנא אפשרו לאנשים לצאת מבית הכנסת בסוף התפילה לפני שנכנסים, אך אנא הגיעו בזמן מכיוון שהתוקעים לא יתקעו שוב עבור המאחרים.
• Slichot. First evening slichot will take place this Saturday night September 16th at 22:30. Starting this Sunday evening (Sept 17), there will be a Maariv minyan each weekday night at 22:20, followed by Selichot at 22:30. On Motzaei Shabbat/erev Tzom Gedalya (Sept 23rd) and on Motzaei Tzom Gedalya (Sept 24th) there will be no late Maariv service, only slichot at 22:30. There will also be slichot every morning before Shacharit starting Monday Sept 18th, except erev Rosh Hashana.
• סליחות. אמירת סליחות הראשונה תתקיים במוצאי שבת הקרובה 16/9 בשעה 22:30. החל מיום ראשון הקרוב (17/9) תתקיים תפילת ערבית כל יום חול בשעה 22:20, ומיד לאחריה אמירת סליחות בשעה 22:30. במוצאי שבת/ערב צום גדליה (23/9) ובמוצאי צום גדליה (24/9) לא תהיה תפילת ערבית מאוחרת אלא רק אמירת סליחות בשעה 22:30. יתקיימו גם אמירת סליחות כל בוקר לפני תפילת שחרית החל מיום שני 18/9 חוץ מערב ראש השנה.
• From the Berman’s Zedaka Fund. The Zedaka committee wishes to remind our members that the month of Elul is a particularly appropriate time to donate to the needy of our city. Please be generous to those less fortunate, and submit your donations as soon as possible, so they can reach those in need in good time. Donations may be made by check or online bank transfer. Checks should be made out to “Jacob Berman Community Center" with a notation on the back that the check is for the zedaka fund. They may be delivered to the members of the zedaka committee, or Gabbaim, or to Larry Israel (28/13 Gordon), or Gerry Tanny (15/6 Eisenberg). Those wishing to donate online may do so by bank transfer directly to the shul account: Account name: Jacob Berman Community Center, Bank Mizrahi T'fahot, Branch 434, (Rehovot), Account no. 514880. Make sure to specify on the online form that the donation is for the Zedaka Fund and send an email to Larry Israel larry.israel@hotmail.com with details of the transfer. All donations are tax deductible.

• Wanted- Women/older girls to give a d'var Tora on Simchat Torah. Lookng for two women to give short (~5-8 min) Divrei Torah for women on Simchat Torah morning, preferably one in English and one in Hebrew, while the men are repeatedly reading וזאת הברכה. Volunteers should please contact sschwarzbaum@gmail.com. This was one of the many initiatives of Chaya Tannor z'l, which we would like to continue.
• דרושות נשים ונערות להעברת דבר תורה בשמחת תורה. דרושות שתי נשים להעביר דברי תורה קצרים לנשים (כ5-8 דקות) בבוקר שמחת תורה בזמן הקריאה החוזרת של "וזאת הברכה", בעדיפות לדבר תורה אחד בעברית ואחד באנגלית. אנא צרו קשר עם sschwarzbaum@gmail.com. מדובר באחת היוזמות הרבות של חיה טנור ז"ל, וברצוננו לשמר אותה.
• The joint Berman-Darchei Noam book club will be holding its first meeting on Sunday, September 24th at 20:30 at the home of Nettie Beer, Hashomrim 45. We are interested in having as many people as possible join us. This is an important, as well as an interesting project with an Orthodox synagogue from Minneapolis. • There will be no shiurim in the Beit Midrash Nishmat Chaya next Tuesday, erev Rosh Hashana. Shiurim resume as usual on Tuesday 26/9/17 ו בתשרי.
