Bereavement and Memorial:
- We regret to announce
the passing of Rahel Kanner z”l, the mother of our member
Dov Kanner. The funeral took place on Sunday 13.12,
at the Eretz Ha’chaim cemetery in Beit Shemesh. Dov will be
sitting shiva in his home, 41 Ha’shomrim, until Sunday morning
Dec 20th. He can be reached at 054-227-4000. Davening times
are: Shacharit every weekday - 6:10 AM. Mincha-Ma'ariv on
Thurs at 4:25 PM and 5:05 PM, respectively. Friday Mincha -
1:00 PM; Shabbat Mincha - 4:05 PM (Ma'ariv at the usual time).

- The Azkara marking the
first Yahrtzeit of our member Jerry Rosenfeld z'l will
take place on Friday morning, December 25th. at 9:00 AM, at
the graveside in the Rehovot cemetery.
SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS
- On the eve of the tenth
of Tevet (Yom Hakadish Haklali), Monday night the
21st of December at 8:00 PM, we will have a lecture in English
on the topic of "How the Rabbinic Leadership Coped
with Halachic Dilemmas during the Holocaust". The
lecture will be given by Shaya Ben Yehuda, head of the
international relations division at Yad Vashem. This lecture
will examine the difficulties faced by rabbis attempting to
make Halachic rulings in extreme circumstances that gave rise
to unique and unprecedented questions.
- New shiur in English.
We are pleased to announce that Eitan Ronen
will be giving a new weekly shiur in English every Tuesday
night from 8:30 - 9:15 PM. in the back of the shul, entitled
'Halachic issues concerning women (and men)'. The first shiur
will be given on Dec. 22nd on "Who has the obligation to make
kiddush, the husband or the wife?". The shiur is open to the
general public.
- The next board meeting
will take place on Wednesday December 23 at 20:00. The agenda
will be posted on the live calendar. Minutes of the November
10 board meeting are available on the members only
section of the Bermans site.
- The 2016 Annual General
Meeting (AGM) of the Bermans membership will be
held on Motzai Shabbat Bo, January 16, 2016 at 20:00. We are
looking for some new talent to join the Board. If you are
interested, please contact one of the members of the
Nominating Committee: Ian Taylor, Eliot Dobin or Aviva Spotts.

- AMIT Mishloach Manot
Project. Now that Hanukkah is over, it’s time to
start thinking about Purim! We have an active AMIT Chug in
Rehovot, and our biggest fund-raiser is the Purim Mishloach
Manot Project, with about 250 families participating,
including many members of the Berman community. We have
begun preparing for Purim 2016. If you would like to join
our mishloach manot list, or if your contact

- The Noam Eliyahu
mamlachti-dati school in Netivot is in desperate need of
donors to establish a library in memory of Ksahon
Beinsian, z”l. Ksahon, who made Aliyah with his
family from Ethiopia in 1989, lost his father at the age of
nine and raised his younger siblings together with his
mother. He served as a pathfinder in the IDF for 21 years.
He was killed stopping a terrorist cell, saving many Israeli
lives in the process, during "Operation Tsuk Eitan". Ksahon
was the father of three; his fourth child was born days
after he was killed. His wife, Galieto, wishes to establish
a library in his memory in their children’s school. For
