- The Noam Eliyahu

donors to establish a library in memory of Ksahon
Beinsian, z”l. Ksahon, who made Aliyah with his
family from Ethiopia in 1989, lost his father at the age of
nine and raised his younger siblings together with his
mother. He served as a pathfinder in the IDF for 21 years.
He was killed stopping a terrorist cell, saving many Israeli
lives in the process, during "Operation Tsuk Eitan". Ksahon
was the father of three; his fourth child was born days
after he was killed. His wife, Galieto, wishes to establish
a library in his memory in their children’s school. For
details, please see here or contact Leora Ronen

- A Chanuka thought
from the Basement. A well known question asks why
Chanuka is celebrated for eight days, if the miracle of the
oil began only on day two. Rabbi Mencahem Mendel of Kotzk
answers: The miracle of the first day was that after the
Jews had experienced so much destruction and devastation,
both physically and spiritually, they even bothered to look
for the oil at all. חנוכה שמח וחודש טוב
