SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND
REMINDERS
- There will be no more
early mincha/kabbalat shabbat minyanim this fall (please
ignore early minyan times on Oct 2 and 9 that appear on the
.pdf calendar). The early Friday night minyan will resume in
the spring following the return to Daylight Savings Time
(Friday, March 25, 2016).
- Please note early
start time for Hashkama Minyan on Shabbat
morning Chol Hamoed, 6:00 AM.
- Aravot will be
available for sale on Sunday (Hoshana Rabba) at
the shul entrance; cost is 5 shekels for a bunch of five
aravot, with proceeds to the shul.
- On Hoshana Rabba the Yeshivat
Hadarom parking lot will be open for morning
Shacharit minyan.
- The early minyan on
Simchat Torah morning (starting at 7:00 AM in
the Beit Midrash) will be having its second annual
potluck kiddush. All attending are requested to
bring a package of their favorite commercially prepared
carbs, or a bottle of their favorite liquid (from zero to
180 proof), or a container of their favorite marine protein
(the fin and scale kind). Packaged items only, please, to
comply with shul Kashrut policy. There will also be an "early"
minyan on Simchat Torah night (ie Sunday night)
in the Beit Midrash. Same start time as the main minyan
(18:11), but shorter Hakafot and earlier end.
- As in the past, on
Simchat Torah, during the men's repetitive
reading of Vezot Habracha (after the first round), there
will be two Divrei Torah by women for women, one
in English and one in Hebrew in the Yeshiva Beit Midrash
(one flight up where the Beit Midrash Minyan davened on RH
and YK).
- There will be a board
meeting on Tuesday Oct 6 at 20:00. Anyone who
would like to add an item to the agenda is asked to contact
David Tannor
or any board member.
- Written versions of
divrei torah given at Berman's will be available
at http://www.bermanshul.org/divrei-torah.
We would like to include a greater number of divrei torah
delivered by our members on Shabbat. If anyone who has given
a d'var torah has a written version that they would like
posted, please send it to Mechael Kanovsky after editing.
- Looking for a
volunteer to scan minutes of Berman's meetings
from the old days when they were written with a typewriter,
for the shul's archives. No need to convert to editable
text, just save images as .pdf files. If you have a scanner
and the inclination to do this, please contact Hershel Safer
(hsafer@alum.mit.edu).
- For the curious, Rosh
Hashana seat sale statistics are available on the
Noticeboard, here. Yasher Koach again to all those
whose efforts allowed the shul to accommodate over
650 people for holiday t'fillot.
- Torah readers are
still needed at the Hashkama Minyan for several
parashot of Sefer Bereishit, including Toldot, Vayishlach,
Vayigash, and Vayehi. Please contact Yair Pomerantz to
volunteer: 052-222-0930
HOSPITALITY and CHESED
- **Urgent** Several more host families
needed, for soldiers and their commanders. Host families needed for
Parashat Bereshit. On Parashat Bereshit
(10/10/15) we will be hosting soldiers from the "Nativ"
pre-conversion course, who are at the end of their course.
We are looking for 10-15 families to host them. This is the
peak of the course and what motivates most of them to
continue towards conversion. Most who are interested in
conversion are זרע ישראל and it is a big Mitzva to help
them. Please take part in this important task and host two
soldiers on Shabbat Bereshit. The soldiers will be happy
with all types of families, older or younger, with or
without children. If you can host, please contact Ilana
Friedlander ASAP at 053-5706592 or stevenf@netvision.net.il
