tov to his parents, Haggai and Miri Lavie, and to his four

Bereavement and
Memorial:
- We deeply regret to announce
the passing of Charlotte Klein, z"l, the
mother of our member Josh Klein. The
funeral took place on Sunday, May 10, in Washington D.C.
Josh is sitting shiva at his home, 21B/1 Hanassi Harishon
(936-1336), through Friday afternoon, May 15. Davening times
are Shacharit: 06:15, Mincha: 19:20, Ma'ariv 19:50. Mincha
Friday at 13:30 at the Kleins.
- The azkara for our
dear member Jay Goldstein (Yakov Sandor) ז"ל will
take place Monday, the18th of May (29th of Iyyar, 5774) at
the Rehovot Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at
18:00 at the Rehovot cemetery entrance.
SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND
REMINDERS
- The second of the three lecture
Bellows-Kahn series will take place at the shul on Sunday,
May 17th at 8:00 PM (Maariv at 19:50). The lecture will be
given in English by Dr. Shalom Wald on the
topic of "All civilizations rise and decline: what
are the lessons for the Jewish people". Dr.
Shalom Salomon Wald is a Senior Fellow at the Jewish People
Policy Institute in Jerusalem, where he focuses on Israel
and the Jewish people's relations with China and India.

- From 7:00-8:00 PM that same
evening, in honor of Yom Yerushalayim, we will have
a number of additional events going on simultaneously:
1) A book fair under the pergola with
English, Hebrew, adult and children’s books by Pomeranz
bookseller. (Those interested in specific books should
contact Michael Pomeranz in advance: sbtp60@netvision.net.il,
02-623-5559). 2) Shirah b’tzibbur at the
amphitheater with Ellen Macales playing songs on
the keyboard, 3) Continuing photography of members
for the Bermans directory with Chana Nudelman Faust in the

- As part of the new
Minneapolis-Rehovot Partnership, we are exploring the twinning
of Bermans with the Darchei Noam shul of Minneapolis
http://darcheinoammn.org/.
Darchei Noam is a modern orthodox shul that is very similar
to Bermans in terms of its openness and tolerance and very
connected to Israel: seven of their children have made
aliyah or are currently serving in Tzahal. If you are
interested in exploring possible common projects with
Darchei Noam please contact David Tannor, david.tannor@weizmann.ac.il.
- The next board meeting
will take place on Wednesday May 20th at 20:00. The agenda
will be posted in the live calendar. March board
