SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS​​

• Thank you!! to the organizing committee, helpers, setup and cleanup crew, participants and everyone else who contributed to a hugely successful Yom Haatzmaut event. For those of you who missed out- you'll have to wait for next year..
• On Shabbat Emor, May 1-2, Prof. Michael Fishbane from the University of Chicago (divinity.uchicago.edu/michael-fishbane) will be a scholar-in-residence at Bermans. Prof. Fishbane’s writings range from the ancient Near East and biblical studies to rabbinics, Jewish mysticism, and modern Jewish thought. His many books include Biblical Interpretation in Ancient Israel and The Exegetical Imagination: On Jewish Thought and Theology. His commentary on the Haftarot was published as part of the JPS Bible commentary series and he has recently completed a multileveled commentary on the Song of Songs. He will be giving a shiur on shabbat afternoon after mincha in English on his new commentary on the Song of Songs. The Haftarah shiur on Shabbat morning will be extended from 11-12 to allow a more in-depth discussion of the haftarah.
• Torah readers [still] needed for selected parshiot in Sefer Bamidbar for the main and early minyanim. To volunteer, please contact Rami Shaanani for the main minyan, and Yair Pomerantz (0522220930) for the early minyan.

• Volunteers wanted to give Divrei Torah for parshiot in Sefer Bamidbar, and shiurim on shavuot for both the adults and youth. Please contact Mechael Kanovsky.
• The Iyyar Yahrtzeit Jointly Sponsored Kiddush will be held on Shabbat, Parshat Behukotai (May 16, 2015). To participate, please contact Rachel Schecter before Sunday, May 10th. Participation: 150 NIS.
