Bereavement and memorial:

  • We regret to announce the passing of Seena Baker ז"ל, mother of our member Jill Shames. The funeral took place on Wed. April 1 in Clearwater, Florida, USA. Jill will sit shiva in Florida until Thursday and then return home late Friday afternoon; there will be no shiva in Rehovot. SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS​

  • There will be a Siyyum for Bechorim on erev chag, Friday, April 3rd, immediately after Shacharit given by Nachum Babkoff.
  • Note changes in davening times for this week: Friday night Mincha: Early 17:30 and Main 18:50. Shabbat morning Shacharit: Hashkama 06:45 and Main 8:45.
  • The Zeddaka Committee wishes to remind those who have not yet sent their donations for Maot Hittim to do so as soon as possible. Last year we were able to help more than 300 families. Please be generous and send your contributions this week, so we can reach out to people before the chag. Thanking you as always for your kindheartedness.     Some of the highlights are as follows:
    All pill medication (with or without chometz) that one swallows is permitted without special hashgocha. Vitamins and Food supplements do not necessarily fall under this category.
    All chewable pills that have kitniyos are permitted for one who is ill.
    Liquid medications that contain kitniyos are permissible for one who is ill.
    All varieties of body soaps, shampoos and stick deodorants are permitted for use on Pesach regardless of their ingredients.
    All types of ointments, creams, nail polish, hand lotions, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, foot and face powders, and ink and paint may be used regardless of their ingredients.

  • ערב מיוחד לכבוד יום העצמעות. פסח בפתח – רק עוד יום אחד – ויום העצמאות חל בעוד פחות משלשה שבועות. בואו לעשות שמח באירוע השנתי של קהילת ברמן לכבוד יום העצמאות שיתקיים לאחר תפילת מעריב חגיגית ביום רביעי בערב, 22.4.2015. בהתאם לבקשת הקהל, תתקיימנה השנה שלוש תוכניות נפרדות לקבוצות גיל שונות. נא לקחת דקה ולהרשם פה.

  • Emunah’s National Council of English Speaking Chapters Spring Yom Iyun on Anti–Semitism, Wednesday April 29th 2015 at Emunah's Bet Elazraki Children’s Home, 7 Rabbi Tarfon Street, Netanya 4244807. Guest Speakers - Eli Nahum – Director of Research for Anti-Semitism in the Office of the Prime Minister – “Anti-Semitism Today” Michelle Rojas-Tal – Diaspora Education Director of Stand With Us – “Combating Extremism and Anti-Semitism”. Registration 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Programme promptly at 10.15 a.m.Donation NIS 60 to include refreshments on arrival, lunch (vegetarian available if booked in advance) and drinks all day. All welcome, including men and non-members. Reservation: Evelynne Goldman 08 945 6264 by April 19th 2015. Cancellations made after April 22nd will be charged. Possibility of a private bus at a cost of NIS 65 per person if there is sufficient interest.
  • Emunah Rehovot’s Annual Yom Hashoah Meeting Tues April 14th at 10 a.m. – at the home of Lily Stern, 8/3 David Shimoni, Rehovot. Guest Speaker – Jeremy Pfeffer “A Young Boy Alone Under the Bridges of Budapest – My Cousin’s Journey from Poland to Israel”. There will be candles available for people to light. Minimum donation of NIS 10 to Holocaust Survivors’ Fund.
  • Several non-Jewish international guests at the Weizmann are very interested in attending a Pesach seder.
