SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS:

  • The membership would like to thank the gabbaim, chazanim, shofar blowers, and all those who contributed to a meaningful davening on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (and year-round!).
  • The gabbaim of the three high holiday minyanim thank all those who helped organize, set up, run and (especially) clean up after the services. May you continue to be zocheh to mitzvot throughout the new year.
  • This year, as in past years, Bermans is cosponsoring an event on Leil Hoshana Rabba at Havayyot at 20:00 (Tuesday night 20 Tishrei, 14.10.14). The theme of the evening will be: Israeli Society – where are we headed? There will be two featured speakers, General Yoram Yair (“Yaya”) and the journalist Emily Amrusi.  Afterwards, there will be text study in groups.  Admission is free.  All are welcome.
  • Note that Bermans will not be providing a sukkah this year. Families without a sukkah can contact the hospitality committee, who will try to arrange sukkah access.
  • אנו מחפשים נערים/נערות מגיל 14 שמעוניינים לעבוד בקידושים השבועיים בבית הכנסת, כולל הקמת השולחנות ביום שישי, עריכה הגשה ונקיון בשבת בבוקר.  בנוסף, היות ונשתמש בירקות מאוצר הארץ, טיפול בירקות יחייב נוהלים מיוחדים. אם מישהו מעוניין ורציני, נא להתקשר לרחל שכטר. 054-7613892.

  • Looking for teens, age 14 and up, who are serious about working in the weekly kiddushim. The job includes putting out the tables on Friday, and setting up the kiddush and clearing up on Shabbat morning. Also, you must be serious about handling the vegetables which may have kedushat shvi'it. Please call Rachel Schecter. 054-7613892.
     
  • טיול. מסתורי החורש וריחות תבלינים בהרי מנשה. ביום חמישי, 30.10.2014 (אחרי החגים), נצא יחד לטיול קסום בהרי מנשה בין עצי החורש, לאורך הנחל הזורם ומימיו הצלולים. נבקר בחוות התבלינים  ונקנח בביקור ביקב מורד שם נטעם יין ושיכר בטעמים אקזוטיים וייחודיים המופקים מפירות, עשבי תבלין ואפילו ירקות (!) התוכנית המלאה פה. 8:30 : יציאה מרח' הרב ברמן פינת מלצר. בין 19:00 – 20:00: הגעה חזרה לרחובות.יש להצטייד באוכל ושתיה לכל היום(ארוחת עשר, ארוחת צהרים ונשנושים).  עלות הטיול כולל כל האתרים – 55 ש"ח למשתתף!!!!  ההדרכה תהיה בעברית. ההרשמה והתשלום אצל דוד דרורי, רח' אלקלעי 12 (טלפון -08-9315847), רחל שכטר, רח' פלדי 12, דירה 22 (טלפון – 054-7613892) או גריטה רוזנברג, איזנברג 46 דירה 1 (טלפון – 08-9475087).



  • LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!! Berman’s is going on another tiyyul – this time to the Harei Menashe, where we will walk among the trees and along the streams. We will visit an Herbs and Spices Farm and a winery where Mead is produced from fruits and vegetables. When: Thursday, October 30, 2014, leaving at 8:30 from the corner of Meltzer and Harav Berman Streets. Returning: around 19:00-20:00. Total cost:  only 55 NIS per person, including entrance fees, tour guide, bus, etc.Please bring your own food for the entire day. Guidance will be in Hebrew! The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.org or to Chaya Tannor. As we learn from Avraham Avenu, please open your homes to our guests and newest arrivals. MISHEBEIRACH LECHOLIM + BIKKUR CHOLIM - מישברך לחולים וביקור חולים  
  • Please send names (3 maximum) to gabbai@bermanshul.org (preferably by Thursday) or write them out and give to the Gabbaim before kriat hatora. Names must be resubmitted anew every week and will be read on the following Shabbat morning. This is intended for people with a acute health issues; if you would like a misheberach for somebody with a chronic illness, please recite the person's name by yourself during the prayer.
     
  • If you are convalescing at home and would like visitors, please write in to bermanshul@gmail.com

Events:
  • International Shabbat Project--Shabbat Parshat Noach, Rosh Hodesh Heshvan (October 24-25): Special Shabbat activities throughout Rehovot, starting with a womans Challah bake on Thursday evening, home hospitality for Shabbat meals, programs at various shuls and more. This is part of the  International Shabbat Project initiated by Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein of South Africa.
