SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS:
- On Rosh Hashana, we begin a Shmita year.
Bermans has decided to give priority in its kiddushim to
produce of Otzar Bet Din, but it will rely on Heter Mechira if
necessary. Since fruits and vegetables of Otzar Bet Din have
kedushat shevi'it, this coming Shabbat (Ki Tavo), Rav
Aryeh Frimer will give an introductory lecture in English
on the concepts of Shmita, from 11:00-11:40 in the main
part of the shul; topics will include heter mechira, otzar bet
din, and kedushat shevi'it and their halachic implications. A
summary sheet will be distributed. All are invited to attend.
This lecture will supersede the other after-kiddush lectures
this Shabbat.
- Beit Midrash program every Monday evening from
20:00-22:00. Individuals, chavrutot and groups are
welcome to use the Beit Midrash every Monday evening
throughout the year. In addition, we are introducing a chabura
that will be studying various texts together for the first
hour of each session. Both the chevrutot and the chabura will
be happening simultaneously.
- *SAVE THE DATE* The social committee is organizing a
tiyyul to the north on Thursday, October 30th.
Details will follow.
- The jointly sponsored Tishrei Yahrtzeit Kiddush will be
held on October 18th, 2014 - Parshat Bereshit. If
you would like to participate, please contact Rachel
Schecter no later than October 7th, 2014.
- Needed: Ba'alei Kriya for parshiot in Sefer Beresheit
for the early minyan (6:30). Please contact Yair Pomerantz.
- We would like to invite additional shul members to
volunteer to help the chessed committee. We
organize and take part in preparing meals for Berman's
families who need some help after a birth, shiva, or
during medical recoveries. If you do not want to join the
committee as a regular participant, but CAN volunteer to cook
one meal a month ...or one a year. that would also be
helpful!!! Please contact Chaya 0526991433
