• Mazal tov to Anita and Fred Naider on the Bat Mitzvah of their oldest Grandchild Chana Meira Iskowitz and to the Parents Rabbi Shalom and Rachel Iskowitz of Ramat Beit Shemesh.
   
• Mazal tov to Shaindy Shain and family on the Bar Mitzva of her grandson, Yashiv Weinberg, son of Gila and Menachem Weinberg of Tekoa.
   
• We are deeply grieved to announce the tragic passing of Yoni Turgeman ז"ל, son of our former members Debbie Turgeman and David Turgeman. Yoni died in Sunday's deadly bus accident on Route 6. The funeral was on Monday. Shiva arrangements are posted at http://bermanshul.org/shiva

• Jointly Sponsored Kiddushim:
  • Elul Yahrzeit - If you have yahrzeit in the month of Elul and would like to join the Jointly Sponsored Kiddush which will be held on August 17th, please contact Rachel Schecter (054-7613892) by Thursday, August 8th.
  • We would like to organize a Birthday Celebration on October 12, 2013. If you or your children have a birthday in the months of June-October, why not mark the occasion and help sponsor a Jointly Sponsored Kiddush? • Membership Renewal and High Holidays 5774  חידוש חברות וימים נוראים תשע"ד
  The letter and form for annual membership renewal and seat orders for the yamim nora’im. have been placed on the shul website as a single PDF document (PDF link here). The form is also available as an Excel spreadsheet (XLS link here). As last year, the printed documents will not be mailed out and you are requested to please print out your own copy.
  Notes:
  • Please note the late-payment surcharges (for seat orders after 7th August and for membership renewal after 1st September).
  • The davening times are subject to change
  Instructions:
  • Not all browsers will allow you to print the PDF document directly, so you may have to first download it and then use a PDF program (e.g. Adobe Reader) to open and print it.
  • You can either print the blank form and complete by hand or fill the form on your computer before printing. (Data entered via your browser interface may be lost - to avoid this problem use Adobe Reader or another PDF reader).
  • Please consider printing extra copies for members you know who may not be able to print their own.
     
• MINI- MINYAN LEADERS
  • Younger group - ages 3-5: Is there any man/woman in the Shul with experience with younger children who would be interested in leading the younger mini-minyan group every Shabbat?
  • Older group - grades aleph-gimel: Are there any young members of Berman, from ninth grade thru twelfth grade who are interested in hadracha of the older group?

HOSPITALITY, COMINGS & GOINGS - הכנסת אורחים The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.org or to Chaya Tannor. As we learn from Avraham Avenu, please open your homes to our guests and newest arrivals. • Orit is a chozeret bitshuva who is an easy guest. She likes coming to Bermans for holidays but lives out of town. If anyone could host her for a meal and/or sleeping for Rosh Hashana, she would be very happy. She speaks Hebrew and English and is already invited for Fri night.(Therefore she needs 4 holiday meals plus Shabbat lunch)

MISHEBEIRACH LECHOLIM + BIKKUR CHOLIM - מישברך לחולים וביקור חולים  

• Please send names  (3 maximum) to gabbai@bermanshul.org, (preferably by Thursday) or write them out and to give to the Gabbaim before kria. Names must be resubmitted anew every week and will be read on the following Shabbat morning. This is intended for people with a acute health issues; if you would like a misheberach for somebody with a chronic illness, please say the person's name to yourself during the prayer.
   
• If you are convalescing at home and would like visitors, please write in to bermanshul@gmail.com.

• Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
  1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
  2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please register you date here, send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com or let any board member know.

• Do you have a van that can seat 6 people ? Would you be willing to lend it out? A family who don't have a car would like to attend a family wedding in the north with events in places difficult to access by public transport. They need the van Aug 29 -Sep 1. The person is a very careful driver and I have lent my car to him in the past but they can't all fit in it. Also my car came back cleaner and with more fuel in it then when it left.   On Wednesday, August 14th, at 20:00, Mark Lavie, writer and radio reporter for the AP news agency, who has returned after a 2 year assignment in Cairo will give a talk on the subject: "The Crisis in Egypt -A Look from Within". Suggested donation: members 20 NIS , non-members 30 NIS.
