  • The shul Board will be meeting next Wednesday (28th November) at 20:15 in the shul library.The agenda will be posted at http://bermanshul.org/content/view/186/58/. Members with questions or issues to raise should contact any Board member.
     
  • Berman Seniors are organizing a Chanuka Tiyul entitled "Light and Bravery in Bik'at Hayarden", suitable for ages 10 and up.
    • The Tiyul, will take place on the first day of Chanuka, Sunday 9th December 2012.
    • We will be leaving from Rechov Melzer at 8 a.m and returning at about 6 p.m.
    • The tiyul includes visits to beautiful places and many historical stories.
    • The hadracha will be in Hebrew this time.
    • Cost per person is 60 NIS which includes a sandwich and a drink. (Each person should also bring an extra 5 NIS which we will collect for tipping the driver and the guide). We suggest bringing along extra food, since it will be a long day.
    If you are interested, you must sign up, and pay, no later than November 25th. Sign up and payment (cash only) either with David Drory, Alkali 12, Rehovot, or Rachel Schecter, Paldi 12, Rehovot.   • A chug will be starting for teenage boys interested in learning to read Megillat Esther.

    Teenage boys who have read megilla previously and are interested in reading again should also contact Jake.
     
  • The Anim Zmirot Male Voice Shul Choir, that has accompanied the tefilot at the Berman's shul on many occasions, is looking for new members. No major musical knowledge required. Youngsters also considered!

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.

  • Hatzlacha to the Raise-Your-Spirits women's musical theater in Gush Etzion on their new production of "Esther"! Last Sunday was opening night. There are two more shows in November and at least two in December. The show features Avital Macales in the lead role as Esther. Avital was last seen and heard in the role of "Yael" in their previous production of "Devorah". Ladies, it's guaranteed to be a high-quality and entertaining evening!   • The organization MEZAKIM run by Reb Elozor Gottlieb son of Rabbi David Gottlieb (Shaulson 28/5 phone: 02-6519421 or 052-765-3627) took down hundreds of tziziyot for the soldiers waiting down south to go into Gaza. So many more soldiers wanted and they didn't have enough. Each one costs 30 shekel (special khaki ones). It would be a tremendous mitzva to help Reb Elozor purchase hundreds more. All contributions would be welcome and can be brought to the Gottliebs. Tizku lemitzvot and besurot tovot!
     
  • The Rehovot Reporter wants to know whether and how our readers use hand-held electronic devices. Do you use any of the new mobile devices--smartphone, tablet, other. If so, let us know which device our use and how you use it--to surf the web, receive e-mails, take pictures, play games, listen to music,....or, if you do not use these, why not. We will publish your responses in the Passover sissue of the Rehovot Reporter.
