  • David & Susie Dym invite the entire Berman congregation to a kiddush this Shabbat (Bereshit) in honor of Talia's bat-mitzva. Talia will give a dvar torah at the end of the service in the usual time-slot. Mazal tov to Talia, to Susie & David, to grandparents Irene & Harry Dym and Ruth Segel, and to all the family!
     
  •  Mazal Tov to Ayala & Eytan Meisels on the engagement of their daughter Oryia to Avraham Duek of Jerusalem.

    Mazal Tov to Rivka & Steve Kronengold and to Rav David & Yehudit Fargeon on the birtth of a granddaughter, a daughter for Nechama & Ami Fargeon, from Yeruham.
     
  • The Bet Midrash Minyan will have a post-chag review and planning meeting at the Safers', Gorodeski 20/11, on Monday, October 15, at 20:00. The purpose of the meeting is to highlight what worked well and note what needs to be improved, as an aid to next year's plans. All minyan participants who would like to be more active next year are invited to participate. Suggestions for topics to discuss can be sent to Hershel Safer (hsafer@alum.mit.edu) up to 24 hours before the meeting.
     
  • The shul Board will be meeting next Wednesday (17th October) at 20:15 in the shul library.The agenda will be posted at http://bermanshul.org/content/view/185/58/. Members with questions or issues to raise should contact any Board member.

    We are happy to announce that we have now a coordinator for Bermanoar: Assaf Robinson & his wife Anna (he was the Madrich at the last shabbaton for the older group). To allow all of us to prepare for this year's Bermanoar activities please sign up by sending an email to: Ilana Friedlander stevenf@netvision.net.il, including the following information:
    1. Your name, grade, email, phone number.
    2. Please state if you would like to receive offers to work or volunteer at Berman shul activities - we will add you to the pool.
    Important! Bermanoar will only start activities if we have at least 30 teens (7th to 12th grade) signed up
  • David Drory is opening a new group for Berman youths (6th grade) to learn to read Tora ("taamei hamikra"). Participation is free of charge.

The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.org or to Chaya Tannor.
As we learn from Avraham Avenu, please open your homes to our guests and newest arrivals. This link will take you to the current list of new families and their contact information.

  • Please send in names (3 maximum) to gabbai@bermanshul.org, (preferably by Thursday) or write them out and to give to the Gabbaim before kria. Names must be resubmitted anew every week.

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.

  • A spacious five room rental apartment is now available at 59 Sereni Street, conveniently located a half block from the back gate of the Yeshivat Hadarom grounds.   • Paintings and sketches for sale! Nogah has moved his collection of paintings and sketches into our house, and we're hoping that he will sell some of them so that we can get back into our living room. He's not looking for high prices, but rather to cover the cost of materials and time. You can see examples on his website: www.nogahsafer.com.   • ESRA Rehovot invites the community to hear a fascinating lecture by Dr. Susan Lurie on "Bhutan and the Happiness Index, " which wll take place on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. See the calendar for further details.   • Want to improve your Hebrew reading skills...
    ...and to break into contemporary Hebrew literature? Join the Anglo Hebrew-readers group! We meet Monday mornings every two weeks for an hour of reading and discussion. At our October 15 meeting we will begin a new book, בזעיר אנפין--Petty Business--by Yirmi Pincus. This is a good time to join the group. Read as little as you like. We help each other.
