9:00 am in the Rehovot cemetery.
- On Thursday evening, Rosh Chodesh Av (July 19th), Rabbi Shmuel Silber will give
a shiur on the topic: "Humility, Hatred & Harmony: Struggling To Understand The
Churban." Rabbi Silber is the Rav of the Suburban Orthodox Toras Chaim Synagogue
in Baltimore, Maryland, and an adjunct professor in the Johns Hopkins University
School of Education. Maariv at 8:15 p.m. Lecture at 8:30 p.m., followed by refreshments.
- The next Board meeting will be on Wednesday 25th July at 20:15. The agenda will

- The movie "Escape from Sobibor" will be shown in the back of the schule
promptly from 4:40 to 6:40 p.m. on Tisha Ba'av afternoon (Sunday July 29th).
Afterwards, Henry Sussman will speak. (He is a concentration camp survivor). Mincha

- Membership Renewal and High Holidays 5773 חידוש חברות וימים נוראים תשע"ג
The time has come to renew annual membership and arrange seating for the yamim nora’im.
The letter and form have placed on the shul website as a single PDF document,
which also includes a second form for you to use to provide personal information
for our database (PDF link here). Both forms are also available as Excel documents
(seatingform.xls
and personal-info-form.xls
). As last year, the printed documents will not be mailed out and you are requested
to please print out your own copy. Please consider printing extra copies for members
you know who may not be able to print their own.
- The Bet Midrash minyan is gearing up for another season and is looking for volunteers
to help out. If you are interested in help, please send e-mail to Hershel Safer
(hsafer@alum.mit.edu).
- Berman Shul kiddush organizer: We are looking for a new organizer
for the Berman Shul kiddushim.
The candidate must be:
- available every Shabbat to organize the kiddush (with the help of a small
staff of teenagers)
- able to shop for vegetables and cookies, etc on Fridays (have a license and
use of a car)
- responsible for ordering kugels etc. when they are requested by the sponsors
and set the plata Shabbat as necessary.
The job is suitable for an adult, pensioner, 12th grader or a college student who
lives in Rehovot. The organizer gets paid monthly, for the work he does on Fridays.The
candidate must also know how to use Excel and keep records of expenses, etc. This

- Mealtrain:
Marcia Davidowitz and Chaya Tannor have volunteered to co-organize a group to ensure
ease of organizing meals for shiva, after birth etc. Kol hakavod to Hershel for
the idea! We would like to ask for a volunteer or two for each age group (I am in
the 50's group!) and we will use
www.mealtrain.com to organizes which meals are needed, etc. without having
to talk on the phone each time. Please take a look at this website (great idea--kol
hakavod to Sharyn Strauss!) YOU ARE NOT SIGNING UP TO COOK JUST TO HELP ORGANIZE
PEOPLE (INCLUDING YOURSELF PERHAPS) TO COOK A MEAL !!! If you can help with organizing

We are exploring communities in Israel to live and have heard many good things
about Rehovot and the Berman Shul. In this regard, we are interested in renting
a furnished apartment walking distance to the Shul from October through December
this year. Any leads or contacts you may have about apartments would be greatly
appreciated.

apartment rentals.

- Yeshiva University's High School for Girls (Central) Exchange Program with
Ulpanat Zvia in Ma'aleh Adumim is looking for an English speaking chemistry
teacher for ten 10th graders for the 2012-13 program (middle of December through
January). The 4 classes per week will be held as double periods-two days a week,
1.5 hours per session at Ulpanat Zvia. The curriculum will be Central's curriculum
and the teachers will receive the textbook and syllabus from the Central teachers.

- The Annual Calendar produced by Emunah Rehovot Hadara Yehudit Chapter is available
now. This year it is dedicated to the memory of our dear member, Ellen Hexter, z"l,
who helped produce the calendar since its inception. We are therefore hoping that
this year's calendar will be a sell-out. All profits go directly to the various
