  • The kiddush this Shabbat is sponsored by Aliza & Bernie Weinberg in honor of Bernie's 75th birthday.
     
  • Mazal tov to Shelley & Henry Schwarzbaum and to Flo & Sylvain Sternberg on the marriage of their son/grandson Yair to Rivki Meckler, daughter of Sara & Yaakov Meckler of Ra'anana.
     
  • Mazal tov to Frieda Sarfati on the engagement of her daughter Esti to David Eidenov of Yavne.
     
  • Mazal tov to Miriam & Yehuda Kronengold on the birth of a son. Mazal tov to all the grandparents, Jeannette & Dunny Rabinowitz, and Rivka & Steve Kronengold. There will be a shalom zachar at 8pm on Friday evening at the Kronengold residence, haBrigada 20.
     
  • The hashkama minyan this Shabbat will start at 06:20 because of Rosh Chodesh.
     
  • The next Board meeting will take place on Tuesday 1st November, 20:30 in the shul library. The provisional agenda are posted at
    http://bermanshul.org/content/view/157/58/ (member login required). Please note that the items to be discussed include proposals for a new shul building. Members with questions/comments should approach any Board member.
     
  • On Shabbat Lech Lecha (November 4-5), Rabbi Dr. Yosef Leibowitz will be our Scholar-in-Residence.
    • On Friday night, starting at 8:15 p.m., he will speak on "The Image of G-d in the Human Being: An Analysis of Genesis 1:26."
    • On Saturday afternoon, between mincha and ma'ariv, he will speak on "The Siddur as Midrash: 'Whenever the Ark set out, Moses would say' (ויהי בנסע הארן ויאמר משה)."
    Rabbi Leibowitz is the Director of the Yad Yaacov Fund for Jewish Education.

  • Yoni Bain (054-264-0110, jsb399@nyu.edu) is a 24 year old who came on aliya with his family to Raanana 1 year ago. He is looking for student housing (sharing an apartment) as he will begin at Weizmann after sukkot. The Weizmann and Faculta apparently have nothing left to offer in terms of housing. Does anyone know of any housing? Chaya

  • Please send in names (3 maximum) to gabbai@bermanshul.org, (preferably by Thursday) or write them out and to give to the Gabbaim before kria. Names must be resubmitted anew every week.

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.
