  • Baruch Dayan Emet
    We regret to announce the passing of Rav Chaim Yehosef Ralbag ז"ל, father of our member Rivka Kronengold. The funeral took place on Monday 15th August in Jerusalem. Rivka is now sitting shiva in New York. Her mobile phone number is 052 4702055.

  • Blood drive
    We have received a call for blood from MDA who are facing a shortage of blood, Bermans will hold a blood collection at shul on Sunday 21st August from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Please do your very best to come and donate, and don't forget to bring identification and a donor's card if you have one.
     
  • SCHOLAR IN RESIDENCE, Shabbat Parshat Re’eh the 27th of Av 5771 (August 27th, 2011) we are pleased to host Rabbi Michael Skobac, Senior Counselor and Director of Education for the Canadian branch of Jews for Judaism, who will give two lectures in English:
    1. Shabbat morning at 11:00 AM:
      Evangelicals & Israel: Trojan Horse or Knight in Shining Armor?
    2. Shabbat afternoon, following Mincha that will be at 6:30 PM:
      The DaVinci Code: A Jewish Perspective - an analysis of how the story of Jesus and his movement got distorted over time by historical Christianity

  • High Holidays 5772  ימים נוראים תשע"ב       
    The time has come to renew annual membership and arrange seating for the yamim nora’im. The letter and form have placed on the shul website as a single  PDF document (PDF link here). The form is also available as an Excel document (XLS link here) Links to both of these files appear on the Bermanshul website until Rosh Hashana. As last year, the printed documents will not be mailed out and you are requested to please print out your own copy. Please consider printing an extra copy for somebody you know who may not be able to print their own.

The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.org or to Chaya Tannor.

  • Please send in names (3 maximum) to gabbai@bermanshul.org, (preferably by Thursday) or write them out and to give to the Gabbaim before kria. Names must be resubmitted anew every week. 
  • If you are convalescing at home and would like visitors, please write in to bermanshul@gmail.com.
  • Ellen Hexter is critically ill in Tel Hashomer Hospital. Please say tefillot/tehilim for her - Esther Kayla bat Sarah. May she merit a speedy refuah shleima be'toch she'ar cholei yisrael.

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.

  • The Hebrew month of Elul is a time of introspection, reflection, and growth as we prepare for the High Holidays. Join us for our complimentary classes and make this Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur a more meaningful experience.
