- Maot Hittim
Dear Members,
The Berman Community's Zedaka Committee, together with local charities, continues to
be grateful for the generosity of our members. However as Pesach approaches, worries
about the financial strain of the holiday tend to overshadow the excitement of the
chag for many in Rehovot.
Last year, due to decreased contributions we were only able to distribute 47,700
NIS in Maot Hittim. Of this sum, more than 75% was distributed directly through
our Berman’s contacts and social workers to needy families, either in the form of
food parcels or stipends to about 200 needy families. The remaining 25% was given
to local welfare charities for distribution. Through your kindness, we were able
to provide over 250 families with the basic requirements for the chag.
This year we are aiming to increase our donations to 60,000 NIS, as in previous
years. For this we will need your goodwill and your generous help. In order to allow
those organizing food packages to budget their allocations, donations need to reach
them early. Please help us by submitting your Maot Hittim contributions as soon
as possible, and not leaving it until the week before chag, when it is difficult
to organize distribution.
Thanking you as always for your kindheartedness, we take this opportunity to wish
all our members a chag kasher v’sameach.
