ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • A memorial service for Mimi Hershkowitz ז"ל will take place on Thursday 6th of Adar Rishon, 10th February , 4:15 p.m. at the Rehovot cemetery
     
  • Yeshiva campus cleaning - part VIII
    This Friday will be another cleanup of the Yeshiva campus. Same time, same place (different garbage).
     
  • On Shabbat Ki Tissa (18-19 Feb), Professor Avigdor will be our Scholar in Residence. He will be giving two talks, both in Hebrew:
    • ליל שבת בשעה 20:30
      בזכות נשים צדקניות יצאו בני ישראל ממצרים.
      Because of the merit of righteous women the children of Israel were redeemed from Egypt.
    • יום שבת בשעה 17:10
      ספרות בית הכנסת הארצישראלי הקדום --- על התפילה והפיוט, התרגום והדרשה בציבור בבתי הכנסת ארצישראליים בתקופת חז"ל.
      The liturgy and literature of the ancient Palestinian synagogue: On the public prayers, piyyutim, targumim and drashot in the Palestinian synagogue in the time of Chazal.
       
  • Bermans Blood Drive
    On Sunday the 27th of February between the hours of 17:30 to 21:00, there will be a blood drive at Berman's. Please come with a picture ID.
     
  • Shul Library: New books have been donated:
    • Three volumes in Hebrew called: Avihem shel Yisrael. These books include many inspirational stories about Rabbi Mordechai Eliyah zt"l
    • The fourth book is: Immanuel Jakobovits - A prophet in Israel
    The books are in the Biography section (located in front of the windows near the airconditiner). Books in the biography section have brown tape with a round yellow sticker.
HOSPITALITY, COMINGS & GOINGS
The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.org or to Chaya Tannor.
  • There are converts living in Rehovot who are looking for families to invite them over for a meal on shabbat and there are those who are in the process of conversion and need a family to help them through the process. Those interested, please contact Ilana Friedlander at stevenf@netvision.net.il or at 057-570-6592.

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.
