ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Mazal tov to Cissie and Eddie Jacobson on the Bar Mitzva of grandson Matan Golan, and to Yehudit and Rafi Golan,parents of the Bar Mitzva boy.
     
  • Mazal tov to Cissie and Eddie Jacobson on the engagement of granddaughter Rina Tauber to Emanuel Wasserteil of Jerusalem and to the parents Asher and Tamar Tauber of Chashmonaim.
     
  • There will be an azcara for Rosalie Boaz at 9.00 am on Friday January 14th at the Rehovot cemetery.
     
  • The annual Kabbalat Shabbat for women in memory of Rachel Garfinkel ז"ל will be held this coming Friday evening, IY"H, 14 January 2011/10 Shevat 5771 - Parashat BeShalach - at the Kanners - 41 HaShomrim - at 16:50 (Hadlakat Neirot is at 16:36).
    As some have doneAs some have done in the past, if you would like to light candles at home before the regular time, "al tnai", and be driven over please feel free to do so. All women are welcome to join us, including those who did not know Rachel personally.
     
  • The azkarah marking the 14th yahrzeit of Rachel Garfinkel ז"ל and the 6th yahrzeit of Lenny Garfinkel ז"ל will take place at the Rehovot cemetery, IY"H, on Friday, 28 January 2011 (23 Shevat 5771) at 10 a.m.
    The family - both here and abroad - very much appreciates the continued loyalty to Rachel's and Lenny's memories over all the years.
     
  • Yeshiva campus cleaning - part IV
    To all Berman shul goers young and old alike, There will be a cleaning up of the Yeshiva-wide campus on Friday (14 Jan) between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 PM. Come one come all. Even if you can come for only part of that time, please do so. Let's make the campus clean for the benefit of us all. With the help of the anonymous donor and his crew, we will have a spotless campus (hopefully).
  • The Navi shiur between mincha and maariv on Shabbat has finished sefer Yechezkel and is starting sefer Trei Asar.
     
  • Berman's Night of Comedy With Musical Interludes:
    Are the winter blahs getting you down? Too many sunny days? Come join us for an evening full of laughs and light music with a home-grown cast: 22nd January, Motzei Shabbat Yitro, 8:30 p.m. in the Yeshivat HaDarom dining hall. Programme and further details are on the Calendar.

  • On Shabbat Ki Tisa (Feb. 18-19) Professor Avigdor Shinan will be our scholar-in-residence at Berman's. Please mark your calendars. More details will follow.
     
  • We are trying to find a play which could be prepared for a Bermans Purim play this year (!)  Since 100 heads are better than one, we were wondering if any of you have such a play (in English) or have a friend who might have been in one or seen one at another schule. Please put out your feelers and get back with it  to Yisrael Levitt and Stephen Simpson (who will figure out if it is doable) or to Judy Weiss. Thank you, Chaya (Also those of you with acting ability, start thinking about putting those talents to good use!)

  • The Rehovot Reporter*.
    The Rehovot-area public is invited to submit articles in English up to 1,000 words--write about your life experiences, travel experiences, fiction, poetry, opinion pieces, etc.--for publication in the next issue of The Rehovot Reporter. Send your material via e-mail to the editor at coleros@netvision.net.il. Deadline for the issue, due out prior to Passover, is Wednesday, March 9, 2011, but material submitted earlier is welcome.

HOSPITALITY, COMINGS & GOINGS
The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.org or to Chaya Tannor.
  • On Shabbat Parshat Yitro, the Berman community will be hosting a group of converts, most of whom just recently completed their conversion. For some, this will be their first Shabbat following the conversion. During this Shabbat we hope to show them Berman's famous hospitality. We are looking for families to invite them for Shabbat lunch, and we would also appreciate if members of the community would assist them as needed during the davening & talk to them at the kiddush.     1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
