ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Kiddush this week is sponsored by Gabriela and Sidney Cohen in honor of the bar mitzvah of their son Naftali Zvi. Mazal tov to them, grandparents Helen and Aaron Cohen and visiting family.
     
  • Mazal Tov to Adina & Josh Klein on the marriage of their daughter Ariela to Simon (Shimmi) Kosowitz, son of Paula & Ivor Kosowitz of Perth, Australia.
     
  • Mazal tov to Abraham & Chasya Nudelman on the bar mitzva of grandson Ohad, son of Noam & Ayelet Nudelman.
     
  • We regret to announce the passing of Meir Hovav ז"ל, the brother of Ketzia Meltzer who is the widow of one of our original members Uri Meltzer. The funeral was last Friday.

  • Campus cleanup
    As a welcoming gift and to show our goodwill towards Yeshivot Bnei Akiva, there will be a Berman shul cleanup the Yeshiva campus event, spearheaded by the anonymous donor and crew, this Friday between the hours of 12:00 and 14:00. All Berman Members both young and old are invited to participate for whatever time they can.
     
  • On Friday 24 Dec., י"ז טבת, there will be a joint azkara for Bermans founding members Judy and Tommy (Gershon Yehuda) Fried at the Rehovot cemetery, at 8:30 AM. On Sunday, Dec. 26 at 12:30 PM, there will be a הכנסת ספר תורה in Tommy's memory, at the McDonald shul in Netanya. All are invited. For further information contact Ruchel Heidingsfeld at 054-4203960. May their memories be for a blessing.
     
  • On Motzei Shabbat parshat Shemot (25th December) there will be an Erev Limud in memory of Yitzhak Hoffman, ז"ל. Details are on the calendar
     
  • A new group of Megillat Esther readers is forming to read on Purim. New bar-mitzvah boys who are interested in learning to read Megillat Esther should please speak to David Tannor.
HOSPITALITY, COMINGS & GOINGS
The community wishes to know about new arrivals or people planning to come to Rehovot so that we can welcome them. You may send in their details for the weekly bulletin, to hospitality@bermanshul.o or to Chaya Tannor.
  • A family of 5 (two adults, two small kids and a baby) is making aliya and coming to Rehovot next week on Dec. 30. They have a place to stay but they need (until their lift comes) 4 mattresses, a table and chairs and food for the first night (i.e. Thursday night) when they arrive. If anyone can help please be in contact with their friend who lives in Beit Shemesh, Dena Dobkin at dena.dobkin@gmail.com.

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.

    The National English Speaking Chapters of Emunah are, after a gap of a few years pleased to inform you of our forthcoming Shabbaton at the Dan Panorama Hotel, Haifa, on March 11th.-12th., Shabbat Vayikra. Michael Plaskow M.B.E. is the Scholar in Residence. The cost is NIS990 per couple, plus NIS50 registration fee.
