- Letter from the President
Dear all,
We are, thank god, a thriving community with a steady growth rate from year to year.
One factor that makes us a community center and not “just” a shul is the Kiddush
that we have every week. The Kiddush enables people to socialize, for veteran members
to meet newcomers, to network, and in general to create a sense of a community.
The shul however, is not a stand-alone structure. It is part of the Yeshivat Hadarom
campus and we have to stay in good terms with both the yeshiva and in the seminar
for the good of the shul. For some time now, there have been kids who go into the
Seminar building with food from the Kiddush and leave a mess there. There is no
reason for anyone to be in these areas. The shul does its utmost to make sure that
the area around the shul is kept clean but there is no reason for the shul to clean
up the Seminar building as well. This is where parents have to step up and take
responsibility for the actions of their kids. The seminar building is surrounded
inside and out by video cameras that work 24/7. It would be very awkward for us
to post a rogue’s gallery of offenders. So please for everyone’s benefit, please
make sure that this problem ceases to exist.
If I am already talking about Kiddush matters, please do not take any food from
the tables before Kiddush is made. There have been people, both young and old, who
have been helping themselves to food from the Kiddush before davening is over and
when people come out after davening, the trays are half empty. Eat as much as you
want, just be sure that you do so after Kiddush is made.
Thank you all for your understanding,
Mechael Kanovsky,
President
