  • More Apple Picking
    You are invited to pick apples picking for charity at Sandy Colb's farm, opposite Kvutsat Shiller, on Friday 16th July 2010 from 6am to 12 noon. All are welcome, parents, children, grandchildren, friends, grandparents et al.

  • The 3rd Kahn-Bellows lecture on Art and Judaism is scheduled for Sunday evening, July 18th. Prof. Rina Talgam will speak on "The Relationship between Jews and Non-Jews at the End of the Ancient Period through the Perspective of Art." Prof. Talgam, an archeologist and art historian, is the Director of the Center for Jewish Art at the Hebrew University. Maariv will be at 8:15 p.m. and the lecture will start at 8:30 p.m. The lecture will be in Hebrew.
     
  • The Azkarah for our member Jonathan Dym ז"ל will take place next Monday, 19 July, Erev 9 B'av at 17:00 at the Rehovot Cemetery.
     
  • Tisha b'Av:
    • The fast begins at 19:40 Monday and ends 20:13 on Tuesday
    • הרב אריה פרימר יתן הסבר קצר על הקינות, בעברית בערב ובאנגלית בבוקר.
      Rabbi Aryeh Frimer will be giving a short explanation on the kinot that are said in shul, in the evening in Hebrew, and in the morning in English.
    • Tisha Baav afternoon before minhah at around 17:15, we will screen the movie "Ich Bin Jude! Ich Bin Jude!" about the French youth Jewish Resistance. Details are listed on the calendar.
       
  • Beit Knesset Beit Zelcer invites the community to attend a Hachnasat Sefer Torah on Thursday 22nd July 2010. The Sefer Torah was written in memory of Bermans member Yitty Zelcer-Colb ז"ל wife of our member Frank Colb. The event starts 17:15 at Beit Heimfeld and continues with a procession to Beit Zelcer (details on Calendar).
     
  • High Holidays 5771 and Membership Renewal  ימים נוראים תשע"א וחידוש חברות 
    Links to the Rosh-Hashana Letter and the (revised) Seating/Membership Form (.pdf or .xls) have been placed at the top of the Bermanshul homepage. Additional information about the Parallel Minyan was posted previously (Matot-Masei bulletin).  Please download and print the forms, and order your seats ASAP. The letter and forms documents will not be mailed out separately.

  • Members organizing private events (e.g. wedding, bar/bat mitzva celebrations etc.) are advised to use the shul calendar as follows:
    1. You can check for a date that does not clash with another event in the community.
    2. You may have your event listed as an anonymous "private event" so that others can avoid scheduling another event at the same time. Please let any board member know or send your request by e-mail to bermanshul@gmail.com.

  • Looking for an English Speaking P.T. Metapelet for a 2-year-old girl 5 days per week from 13:30-16:30 at your house/our house, including pick up from gan on Hagra street. Starting September. Please contact Tali 054-2079260
     
  • Tzimer in the north. "Bayit Bamoshav" is a beautiful modern guest house in Moshav Hazoreim (near Tiberias). The Moshav is religious and closed to traffic on Shabbat. The house contains:
    • a main bedroom (en-suite bathroom with bath)
    • a second bedroom (with a pull-out bed)
    • an extra bathroom with shower
    • a spacious salon (with a 3+2 sofa, chairs and table)
    • a newly renovated kitchen (with all the facilities for a religious family).
    • air-conditioning in all the rooms.
