  • The Berman Zedakah Fund urgently needs your donations. During the year, we assist a number of needy Rehovot families with small monthly stipends to help with food and medicines. This year, for the very first time, we have used up all our reserves; from next month we will be unable to continue the monthly payments and will be forced to reject other requests for assistance.
Please deliver your donation to a member of the zedakah committee (Jerry Kriger, Rebecca Krausz, Rivka Kronengold) or to one of the Gabbaim. Checks should be made out to “Jacob Berman Community Center" with a notation that the funds are for the “keren tzedaka”. Alternatively, you may mail your donation to Jacob Berman Community Center, P.O. Box 1146, Rehovot 76111 - envelopes for this purpose will be available in shul this Shabbat. All donations are tax deductable.

  • We are pleased to announce a new weekly Berman’s shiur by Prof. David Tannor called Parshat Hashavua: Reading Between the Lines, to be held on Shabbat after Kiddush (from 11:00-11:30 AM) in the back of the shul. The shiur will be in English and will analyze the parsha through rabbinic (and occasionally non-rabbinic) eyes. Beginning and advanced students of the Parsha (women and men) are warmly invited. The shiur begins this Shabbat, Parshat Vayera.

  • Girls/young women who want to read from Megillat Esther at the women’s reading on Purim morning should contact Sheila Fieldust at 08-9491091.

  • We are trying to organize a group from the shul to go for a Friday Shabbat getaway. The date is the 8-9 of January 2010 Parshat Shemot. We will travel by car to the Golani Junction. From there will be going on a guided tour (walking) about the "Irgun Hashomer". Shabbat will be spent in the Har Tavor Hotel near kfar Tavor. In addition to the meals there will be lectures as well. Weather permitting, we will have a walking tour of Kfar Tavor instead of one of the lectures. The lecturer will be Mr. Chaim Mietless a noted military historian. We will be departing back to Rehovot on Saturday night. Price per couple is 690 NIS. There is a possibility of organizing transportation i.e. a bus but that would cost an additional 200-250 NIS per couple or maybe even more. This package deal is dependent on booking at least 22 rooms. For more information and to reserve your room please call David Drory at 08-931-5847 or email him at drorydr1@bezeqint.net.
